Hello. I am looking for resources, such as books or software, that would help me learn how to read (this would involve learning how to recognize it, interpret it, etc) nonverbal communication and facial expressions and so forth. I could also use help developing higher level social skills and understanding. I say understanding because I have trouble understanding certain routine practices in the "normal" social world like why people lie when someone ask for their opinion of a new blouse and so forth.

So I would appreciate any recommendations! Thank you.

Lame title for a book, but it's a classic for a reason.

It's a start, not a be-all end-all.

I had the same problem as you.
I found it difficult to intereact with people as I couldn't read facial expressions or tell when someone was telling a joke which got me bullied and very frustrated.
I found the solution was to buy a cd rom called Mind Reading. (www.jkp.com)It may seem expensive but I believe it helped me.

Good luck.
