Which eye do you look at when talking in conversation?

For the longest time I have never thought about which eye I concentrate on while talking to someone in plain conversation. I was talking to someone the other day and while we were talking my mind wandered and I thought about this. From that moment I have been unable to make permanent eye contact, and when I do, find myself looking at one eye or the other. I was just wondering if anybody else concentrates on just one eye, or both, or am I just going insane? I feel like ever since I have been trying to focus on both eyes, I have been getting weird responses from people and my conversations have become shorter in a sense. I'm starting to think other people notice when I just concentrate on one eye. I have no idea what to do about this dilemma.
