Shutdowns whilst with others - need advice
I'm 27 and I've never had a meltdown, but I've had shutdowns throughout my life. These tend to happen when I've been with other people for several hours, or in loud/crowded spaces. I would describe my shutdowns as an inescapable feeling of needing to be alone, or at least have people not trying to engage me in conversation. Embarrassingly, they sometimes happen when I'm in a restaurant with family members. People tend to get upset at me (and a bit angry) when they happen, even though they have other people they could talk to instead. It's as if they think I'm purposely snubbing them.
Does anyone have any tips for what I could do?

Do you think they could be anxiety or stress related

I don't know. Probably more sensory-related. They usually happen when I've been around others for hours without a break. It's as though my brain doesn't have the capacity for more socialising and quits trying.
