When you are in a big crowd, and you have to attend to business, who do you speak to if you are oblivious about what to say?

Your being kind of vauge here. When you mean "buisness", do you mean "business" as in using the bathroom, or business "business"?

Scott, I'm sorry. Allow me to explain it better.

Many times, when someone is in a big crowd, and they have to do something for their benefit (i.e. order food from a restaurant, deposit a check in the bank,) they have to speak when they do this. For us, as people with AS, it can be hard to figure out who to speak to first. So, my poll question states, "If you do not know what to say when you take care of something, who do you speak to first, the person directly involved with you, or the main person who is in charge of having your needs fulfiiled?"

Well... typically if I can't identify some kind of "point person" to whom I can go to, I won't ask anything at all, and take care of it later when it's less crowded.

I've been forced to change lunch plans several times becasue of confusing lines when I don't know where they begin or end just as an example.

I still don't quite understand the question. I picked the first option because the second one seems non-sensical.

Ok, let me explain this a little better.

When you are in a public place in a big crowd, there are most likely two people involved with you. One person is the person directly involved with you, as in the relative or friend with you in the situation. The other person is the person you are doing your business with.

This person most likely does not know you (How many people do you all know who work in an ice cream shop)?

I would guess people get shy sometimes and do not know who to speak to in these types of situations. This is because most of us get shy and become speechless when we do things like that.

The purpose of someone being in a public pace and take care of something is to get it done. There may be commotion or a lot of other things going on around. This is why someone may be oblivious about who to speak to in this case. So, the poll asks which one of the two people involved in the situation you would most likely speak to.

Thanks for the explanation(s)!

I think I get it now. If I'm out shopping for example and I don't know what to do or say next in order to complete the transaction, I would ask my boyfriend rather than the salesperson - is that the sort of answer you were looking for?

The basis for this is that I know my bf and he knows what I'm like, the salesperson would just assume that I wasn't very bright. It has to be said that he is not much better than me at this sort of thing. He's very extrovert though so is more likely to launch himself into a situation and get it all wrong - I'm more of a hoverer and a ditherer myself.

Yes, you are correct. That is where I was coming from, Feather.

me? I would most likely just wander off into the wating room and read a magazine. Or stare at the wallpaper?

If it was critical, I would ask my companion to leave, although I have never actually done that.

To be honest, I don't know what I actually would do in such a situation.

I am always with my companion in public and I only speak to her unless I ABSOLUTELY have to speak to someone else, which is rare because I try to give her all of the info she needs to communicate for me ahead of time.
