Scientists are beginning tests to see if ultrasound can be used as a reversible contraceptive for men.

Based on early work, University of North Carolina experts believe a blast of ultrasound to the testes can safely stop sperm production for six months.

With a grant of $100,000 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation they will push ahead with more clinical trials.

How can they guarantee the effects only last six months? How do you know exactly when they are supposed to wear off? And if they do, what kind of weird mutant babies will result?

Maybe you could get similar results by just straddling the ol' Microwave...

a vasectomy sans the ectomy. what a concept. the same diminished sensation of ejaculation, though, from the absense of sperm-enhanced viscosity of seminal fluid. but it is still better than adding yet more to the overpopulation of this world we live in.

Yeah but the guy still has to volunteer for the contraception. And they could still lie to the chicks about whether or not they took the treatment.

Think of how many guys lie about not having STDs. :P

!ts about time they got a birth control for men! It sounds much safer then the ones used for women. My chance of cancer went way up this year with the depo shot. And so did my depression, and my risk of osteoporosis.

Not to mention in some women it causes hair loss hair growth and so on.

So an ultra sound seems great, harmless and no side effects.
I mean, what harm could sound do down there?!

I am in favor of this moment!

I like the title of this thread

It implies the scientists are gonna go out there and test it out for themselves. Image of a fella in a lab suit on the street asking if any ladies ovulating want to try there luck today.....

So, they want to whack the family jewels with a blast that will take (hopefully) six months to heal?

Errr... No thanks! 8O

Why not? if it is not harmful to you, wouldn't you rather that then your girlfriend possibly get cancer and die as a side effect of the female version of birth control?
