I've become friends with this one guy at my community college, and every so often we text each other. He texted me - twice - asking if I was single. Both times I answered in the affirmative.

The second time he asked me that, I asked him if there was any particular reason he was asking. He answered that he liked me too much to tell me. I then replied that that didn't make sense, and asked if he was trying to protect me from something. He then answered that he was just wondering if I was single.

I almost want to tell him that if he's going to ask me out, then he should hurry up and do it already. There has to be a reason he's asking this.

I guess he is stupified because of your dashing good looks and not already taken

Do you like him back?

If that's the case, then why doesn't he just ask me out?

If he were to ask me out, then I'd accept his offer. He's nice and decent-looking.

Because he probably is shy or is gathering the courage to do so.

I just saw you are a guy, I don't know if homosexuality is a big issue where you are living and/or studying? If that is the case it might weight along in this issue.

I live in one of the most conservative areas in the country, but it's certainly not an issue for us. We're both members of our school's Gay-Straight Alliance.

Aww, that's so sweet. It does seem that he's quite infatuated. ;) He probably just needs some time to gather courage or perhaps figure out where to take you to, if you were to say yes. I don't think there's anything to worry about when it comes to other reasons for asking. If you think something could develop from this and if he's into you - good luck. ^^ If it doesn't develop into anything, then it's always nice to have a friend.

If you would say yes if he asked then just skip the awkwardness and ask him out yourself. I think this is what he is hoping for.

Yeah I agree, definitely ask him out yourself. It sounds like he's just very nervous or something and is hoping you will do it

You can take the chance if you want but it would be easier if you wait for a few weeks to be sure, but who knows?

I agree, he's wanting you to ask him out for some reason. Ask him out for some coffee or lunch. He sounds like he is afraid that you will reject him. If anything you can at least be friends and see where it goes from there.

He's already told you he's interested by asking twice if you're single. Since you didn't respond, express interest, or ask him to coffee, he's probably assumed you're not interested. You both need to stop being so shy. Just ask him out!

This right here :) also try to ask him in a very disguised way what his answer would be if you did ask him out.
