That's a cool article and a popular theory which could explain some cases.
Although I think it's way more complex than that. You see we get abdominal pains for many different reasons someone might get it from the flue while someone else might get it from Chrons disease. Now lets look at a neurological disorder like schizophrenia as a symptom with many different possible causes. Your article might explain a percentage of cases while several other causes make up the rest.
For instance someone who spent years taking an ADHD medication may have a reaction that causes temporary or even permanent schizophrenic symptoms.
Narcolepsy has been mistaken for schizophrenia.
I've seen someone with autism given the incorrect diagnosis of schizophrenia which has recently been corrected
Someone born with a genetic disorder that effects the brain causing those symptoms
Some psychiatrists blame drug use
Huntington's can present schizophrenic symptoms
In the end there are so many reasons, misconceptions, and theory's it's mind boggling.
Although recently I found an example of a possible cause that really interests me and it's explained in this article
http://discovermagazine.com/2010/jun/03 ... :int=3&-C=
The article is about human retroviruses being the ultimate cause.

That's why I think this explanation only makes up a possible percentage of causes.

I seem to remember reading that T gondii is also present in the excrement of farm animals, and was estimated to be present in up to 33% of humans, but was usually only a problem in those with reduced immune response. It makes me feel uncomfortable to think that my cats are waiting for me to die, so that they can devour my brain and complete the circle of life for these parasites. No wonder they are so friendly.
