I'm trying to get my arduino uno to work on Ubuntu, but can't set up the serial port (it's grayed out). I've tried adding myself to the dialout group (although I didn't get a confirmation that this actually happened). Does anybody here have any idea of how to set up the serial driver in Ubuntu?

That was the first thing I did.

I added my username to the dialout group again, I'm not sure why it worked this time, but it works, I am currently flashing LEDs in victory, thanks.
