The two most reputable sources I could find:

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-New ... in-custody

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/201 ... inois-town

I guess people dying in public housing is not newsworthy as upper middle class elementary school kids and theater patrons.

Please PPR this if and when necessary.

Don't worry. The five recent shooting deaths in Federal Way this past weekend barely made news either.

Just as well it stay out of the media's and Obama's limelight.
If he gets in front of a TV camera again and sheds another crocodile tear like the last time we'll be back to square one with the gun and ammo hording.

Last year a seven-year-old African-American girl was gang raped at a party in public housing.

Her teen-aged sister charged money from them to do it.

Last year a fourteen-year-old Hmong girl was gang raped at a party in an abandoned house in a bad neighborhood; her friend escaped and got help.

Both cases made the news, but not THE NEWS!

I agree, the victims who 'matter' are white, middle to high income, and photogenic.

I DO feel that the Richmond and Steubenville victims deserve every sympathy, but so do the other girls!

Maybe the timing or the way it's reported that counts.
Once something starts getting considerable attention it's like a snowball rolling down a steep slope, it only gets bigger and faster.
I don't think it's a matter of racism.

Two people die every second. They can't all make the news.

Even Sandy Hook got grossly inappropriate media attention. Keep calm and carry on.
