This is Mackenzie Brown (the one in the red top). She is an awesome archer but

Do you think Mackenzie Brown is on the spectrum? She has very flat affect!

She's a cutie! :)

She might be...she might not be. She seems within "normal variation."

No one here is qualified to make such a diagnosis. Why don't you ask her?

Thought about it and wanted to but she may not know. Besides, it's a bit difficult asking someone if they're on the spectrum.

I don't know about that. Some of us are actually studying autism and ASD assessments. I wouldn't consider myself qualified yet though, but I think I understand autism well enough to make an unofficial diagnosis. And I know there are a couple people on here who have spent years working with autism, so I think they understand how it can present pretty well too.

I don't it's possible to diagnose someone you haven't been around though. The impression I got is that she may be a little camera shy.

I don't see the "flat effect" at all. She smiles when its time to smile, and she is serious when its time to be serious (like when she explains to the other girl how to shoot with a bow, etc). So mainly, I can't tell one way nor the other, but if she is autistic I don't see it in this video.

It's "affect"!

Flat Affect ( <- That's a link )

I know this girl who is like the Siamese twin of Mackenzie in every way and she's got Asperger's. It's like looking at this girl but with a different accent.

I bet I'm right. I'm going to contact her and send her some links to a couple of tests. The most she can do is say "No!"

Well, I emailed her, gave her some info, my opinion and a link to the AQ test.

I guess we'll see with time, whether she takes it well, takes the test and replies OR gets mad and never speaks to me again (just like before I contacted her - no loss!) but I would like her to be a friend. We have Archery in common. I have a Compound Bow as well as a Recurve (Olympic grade - Hoyt GMX riser, Hoyt 990TX limbs, SURE-LOC Quest-X 550 sight, Easton X10 suppressors (stabilizers), X10 arrows, etc...). I used to be a member of Liverpool City Archers and SOPA (Sydney Olympic Park Archery) teams. I've been shooting since I was a kid!! We could Arch together :)

I'm not forming a Special Interest in a person (again). I refuse to do that. It can be a VERY BAD THING. Been there - done that - never again. I couldn't stand being hurt that much again! :(

People have been off my agenda as things to be interested in since I got burned once. People ARE NOT A GOOD ITEM TO HAVE A SPECIAL INTEREST IN!! THEY HURT!! THEY'RE TOXIC!!

(I know the perfect post this would fit into nicely. I'm going to copy and paste it in there!)

I don't see her as an Aspie. I see her as maybe having a few quirks, but within "normal variation" as far as her presentation is concerned. Who knows, though--I could be wrong. It's only a video, after all. You'd have to hang out with her over at least a day in order to get some idea.

If she starts talking about the parabola-pattern of the arrow within its trip from the bow to the target, then I would probably wonder if she's Aspie.

She certainly isn't bad looking!

No, she's EXTREMELY good looking I think but no, she'd probably be talking about Archer's Paradox (how an arrow flexes when shot). Interesting Shtuff!
