Actual "need" being the key word then I agree.

You always seem to be petty and ungenerous toward others. Who should determine who has a real need? You? What makes you such an authority about nearly everything under the sun. What makes you so certain you are always right about everything. I know your conservative philosophy seems to empower you to comment negatively toward most anyone...

Why should everyone who pays taxes and actually works pay for people who cannot work. With all the money raised by autism charities every autistic would get more money from them than they would from the government if the government would reform the tax loophole for charities to make what Autism Speaks does illegal therefore they would clean up their act so they continue to pay no taxes.

The government's job is explicitly said in the Constitution as to protect the public and maintain infrastructure, not to steal from the rich and give to the needy. By the way for all those socialists here who say big corporations steal all the money from the poor, the poor have the choice to buy from big companies or not. Also who pays the middle and lower classes. Taxes on the other hand are involuntary, the less of them the better, taxes giving to someone for nothing in return sounds a lot like theft.

Taxation is not defined as stealing in this country though, it is a way to fund maintaining the infrastructure...and having a social safety network is part of maintaining the infrastructure. If you think taxation is stealing you have every right to petition the government though and try and try and get taxation stopped, not that you'd have much luck but its your right. You'd have to come up with an effective alternative to taxing as well to increase chances of any success.

I think the government should do whatever it can to help anyone who says they need help. In America, just admitting that you need help comes with so much humiliation, stress, harassment, threats, accusations, and shame that only a true fool would try and "cheat" the system. I also find it hilarious when anyone rants about those who are "cheating" on disability. People don't realize the absolute hell one must go through to get SSDI. My depression is so bad that I've literally spent weeks at a time in bed, kept alive only by my Mother coming to bring me food and clean me up. My will to live was so low that I couldn't even bring myself to get out of bed. My father coming in every once and awhile to call me "lazy" and to tell me that I "need more ambition" certainly didn't help. Applied for SSDI and tried to get it for over ten years, until I gave up after realizing that my life has no value to my own government.

I still can't get over that on this very forum of WP, there are actually members who would have the gall to tell other members to "jerk oneself up by one's own bootstraps!" :o

Yeah, that kind of attitude is only good for those who have no challenges. That being said, once school ends, I WANT to get a job, not because I have to, but I want to. Sleeping in, eating oatmeal and instant coffee for breakfast, 99cent noodles and a pop for lunch, and Kraft Dinner and more noodles and a cup of tea for dinner, and then watching porn and wasting time on the inter - is not as glamorous a life as it's made out to be, it's literally passing time. I want something to occupy my time.

hopefully your education gives you a nice pleasant job and not a grinding menial job or jobs. all my life I had the latter. it wore me out. if you get a nice job it is like not having to work for a living at all, plus nice jobs usually pay lots more than menial work.

Well, I do have a lack of executive function, a speech impediment and a learning disability. A auto mobile plant in the area starts wages at $25/hr though.

25 an hour is more than I've ever made, that is pretty good :wtg: you could live a comfortable life on that wage.

I'm gonna save $5/hr. Like I'm a single man, what do I really need?

most important, would be to try to save 50% more than that, for as long as you can work. and then invest it in dividend-paying instruments such as MLPs, REITs, dividend-paying stocks and bonds. for example, AT&T long has paid 5.5% on its stocks, which is a whale of a better deal than you'd get in any bank. altria group pays similar. many REITS pay that amount or more, and some pay monthly. accumulate enough of these kinds of things and within 20 years you will have enough saved up to live on for the rest of your life, the dividends will be your new paycheck, the principal you will be able to leave untouched except for emergencies.
