Yeah it's something to work on. Set yourself a challenge

Some young reporter on cable news absolutely DESTROYED himself on air for me.

He was talking about climate change, AND ...he pointed out the little known fact that folks were already observing climate change due to humans putting smoke into the air way back in the late 19th Century.

So...he was gold star up to that point.

But then he said that these pioneering warnings about climate change due to air pollution became "a self fulfilling prophecy".

Thus he exposed himself for being an illiterate dumbass...because he doesnt understand the meaning of the phrase "self fulfilling prophecy".

Not every prediction or "prophecy" that comes true is a "self fulfilling prophecy".

To be "self fulfilling" a prophecy has to come true BECAUSE someone is predicting it.

Man made climate change over the last 150 years would have happened if folks were predicting it or not.

If a billionaire tweets that "the stock market will collapse and we will have a recession" and because he is a big billionaire and investers take his words seriously...it causes a panic...and then a big selloff, and causes the stock market to crash...then that would be a "self fulfilling prophecy". It wouldnt have happened if he had shot his mouth off about it.

If the weatherman says the hurricane will hit Miami, and it does, that would not be "self fulfilling" (even if it came true) because nature doesnt care what the weatherman says.

The predictions in question from back in the day are examples of the later.

Just gets me steamed that folks misuse phrases like that.

Is it too much to ask a 10 year old to get herself to a sink, or a toilet, or a bucket, or a waste paper basket or any sort of receptacle, or at least to any one of the 99% of areas in our house that aren't carpeted when she is going to vomit?

I'm still putting my foot down on the unwanted endless pile of clothes and the damn dog being a huge pest downstairs.

Still won't do most household chores as long as those things are in proximity.


Yes, it's an ultimatum that still remain.
I (still) refuse to clean up my own parent's mess and maintain the house unless those things solved for good.

Else, it's fricking pointless -- and I refuse to be used that way. I'm not the parent, I'm not a damn caretaker and I ain't a fricking maid.
