Hello,

I've been chatting with lots of the parents regarding my 7 year old Aspie.

Our happy little boy has been missing since the end of January. In his place has been a stressed out, miserable child.

But in the last week, we've finally found our happy chap again.

I think it's a combination of:
- 1 day/week homeschooling
- ceasing bus travel
- ceasing him participating in PE (with bully PE teacher) at school
- excellent advice from WP
- excellent advice from pscyhologist to me

Thanks for all your advice and help.

I have trouble getting on WP as much as I'd like because I have to share with my 2 sons!

Not riding the school bus and not having to take PE would have been a HUGE improvement when I was a kid. Tons of bullying goes on on school buses. And PE is embarrassing when you are an uncoordinated Aspie and also because no one wants to pick you to be on their team.

Good going mom! You sound like a very thoughtful parent. Glad your boy is happier. :)

hehe, when I was in high-school I never went to PE.

It comes PE was in the evenings, I didn't knew that! I was just coming from another state!

even after I knew, I never went :P

Even though it was a requirement I was excused from PE in high school because of my anxiety and depression. As someone else mentioned - it can be hugely stressful for uncoordinated Aspies and those with sensory issues.

Good news smelena, but the title was a bit scary - you had me thinking you'd lost Ubby (run away or something) for a few seconds.

That's awesome.

Here we call it the alien abduction. The alien's take our sweet boy and return him at their will. We just look forward to the days or weeks that we have him back.

Keep up the fantastic work. :P :P

I'm so glad that everything is going well for you and your son!!

I still shiver when I think of PE class....it caused me great stress in elementary school. I did anything possible to avoid it, including hiding in the girls' bathroom!

Good news!

P.E. is the height of embarrassment for anyone who is not athletic. I hope things get better for your son. When I was going to school, there were some real bullies who made P.E. a miserable experience for me.
