Carrie Fisher's was sad, Leia was my favourite character in the original trilogy and one of the standouts in Ep 7, but I'd have to say it was David Bowie.

I grew up with Bowie and to lose him so suddenly crushed me. I refused to listen to any other music for a week and I still feel a sense of loss to this day. I still can't believe he's gone. I thought he'd be around forever. He proved that being "weird" could be a gift- advice sorely needed for someone who was picked on relentlessly at school for being "weird". Not to mention I model much of my aesthetic on him in the early 70s as a result.

Probably Carrie Fisher. I only saw The Force Awakens yesterday. That seen when she comes out of the ship and runs into Han Solo put tears in my eyes. The rest of the celebrities on her also saddened me:

David Bowie
Greg Lake
Keith Emerson
Glenn Frey

Prince should have affected me, but I've come to have distaste for him because he looked down on gay people, said we were an aberration or something like that.

Carrie Fisher if I had to pick one but I largely agree.

No doubt it's a toss up between David Bowie and Prince for me personally.

the most recent one, merely because that means an increase in the numbers of people who believe the events of this year are comparable to anything that happened in 1914.

Certainly Carrie Fisher. Leia was always one of my favorite characters in Star Wars - only second to Darth Vader, in fact.

David Bowie for me too, although that's not to say that the others don't matter.

There are very few people I'd wish a premature demise on other than a few politicians and world dictators whose death would benefit the majority of the population (yep, I've read my Jeremy Bentham). Musicians, actors and authors generally don't fall within that remit.

I was also shocked by Jo Cox's murder, even though she wasn't really a celebrity as such (except in her own constituency, maybe). For a politician to get shot in plain daylight for her political beliefs isn't something that happens every day in Britain.

If I had o pick one, maybe Debbie Reynolds. I like classic actors/actresses the best. I really am not into celebrities that much, however.

Jon English that was a shock as I didn't know he was sick.
For those who don't know him he was a singer/actor, he was also in the Australian version of Jesus Christ Superstar.
