A Sunbeam Tiger, from the 1966 sci-fi film 'The Projected Man'. This car was visually identical to the much more common Sunbeam Alpine, manufactured by the Rootes car company 1959-68, but it had a 4.2 litre Ford V8 engine as opposed to the 4-cylinder 1725cc power unit of the Alpine.

The Tiger was manufactured from 1964-67, and the model in the photograph has a 'C' registration plate from 1965-66.

Ken Barlow's Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 2 from a March 1990 episode of Coronation Street. These were manufactured during the period 1981-88 and were the company's competitor to the Ford Sierra. I think the Cavalier was probably a better car all round.

A nice side-on shot of Martin Platt's Ford Escort Mk 3 (1980-86) from an April 1990 episode of Coronation Street. This is an 'A' registered 1983-84 model.

An Austin Montego from a July 1984 episode of Brookside. Manufactured by British Leyland (soon to become Austin Rover Group) from the early mid-1980s, this was a decent looking car which shared a good deal of its mechanical features with the Austin Maestro, but unfortunately it had the usual British Leyland traits of poor build quality and indifferent reliability.

I remember a British car magazine featuring one of these cars in a long-term running report. These reports normally allocated most of the page to a description of the car's performance, how it felt to drive etc, with a small portion of the page at the bottom listing any repairs that needed doing during the test period. Unfortunately the test car developed so many faults in the first few months that the list of repairs quickly took over most of the page, and they ran out of space for the running report. They then had to abandon the feature. Sad comment on British Leyland/Austin Rover and a clear indication of why the company no longer existed by the end of the 1980s.

A Ford Capri from the same episode. These were built in the UK, and also in West Germany and Belgium. The lesser powered cars had 4-cylinder engines mainly of 1600 or 2000 ccs, the higher performance models had 3.0litre or later 2.8 litre V6 engines. Earliest cars dated from 1969, the last ones from the early 1980s.

This is a car the bad guys drive in the Beatles' movie HELP!
It's in the scene with the tank.

According to the interwebs it's a 1913 Sunbeam 14/16 hp.

In the first season of Lovejoy he drives this '78 Volvo Estate. We had one of these when I was about 12, my dad would let me drive it around the field.
