Music From Earth: The following music was included on the Voyager record. The Voyager Spacecraft was launched in 1977.

After looking at the music list (LINK) on the Voyager record, the music (to this day) seems like a fair representaiton of world music. What might potential extra-terestrial civilizations think if they discover the Voyager record?

Johnny B. Goode (popularized in the original 'Back to the Future' movie) was on the 'Voyager Record.'

Was there any consideration to put a Beatles song, or two on the Voyager Record?

1) "Johnny B. Goode" was "made popular" by Chuck Berry in 1955. Including popular in the UK with kids like John Lennon, and Mick Jagger. Though the 1985 movie "Back to the Future" may have introduced it to a new generation.

2)The movie came out in 1985 after Voyager was launched in 1977.

3)My guess is that if the living Beatles, Ringo and Paul, were "in the room" with us taking, they would both admit to being "the spawn of Chuck Berry" and would prefer his song to any of theirs as the stand in for all of Rocknroll ...for space alien education.

4) But even Chuck Berry himself admitted to being a clone...of this lady gospel singer...Sister Rosetta Tharpe. And maybe her music should have been on Voyager.

This is from Chicago but, IMHO, it fits (discovering Jlin right now).
