Depending on where you live, you can donate un-used prescription drugs.

Thanks!

I know I can take them back to my chemist.
I just feel a little suspect dragging in hundreds of bottles lol.

I even have some of my dad's cancer meds.

I didn't know that the chemist might donate them?
I assumed they just dispose of them properly like a biohazard.

I also read if you're going to trash them from home, put them in cat litter.
I think the idea is it would keep other animals from eating it from your bin.
Don't ever flush them, because of water contamination.

It's funny that because I treat every drug I take as if it's placebo until I know it's working

I've been using Ritalin and Equasym for about the past 15 years now so I'm pretty certain it's the real deal and for me the effects haven't lessened. I mean if people are using the drug for weight loss or to get high and stay awake instead of it's intended use then they actually don't really need it and this is why there's a shortage but that's just my opinion.

I hate this shortage of drugs because if I use a lower dose and then I up it it sends my head west for the first day.

I should go through my med stash.
I have some of everything.
All sorts of crap, including my daughter's meds.
Hers get switched all the time, mid-script.
Everything from antibiotics to sedatives, Epilepsy meds, etc.
Beta Blockers, ADHD, antipsychs, antidepressants, benzos.
Buspar - I know that's hard to get in USA.

I don't know what to do with it all.
I'm not a junkie.
My point is that I don't take it.

You don't take your prescribed meds? :o

Most of that stuff is meant to be taken as needed, like Benzos.
I might take 2 or 3 a year.
Then they switch me to another kind to see if it works better.
The new kinds are never any better.

Same with painkillers, like morphine.
I've had so many surgeries I've got all kinds of narcotics.
They tell you not to take it if you don't need it.
They don't want people to get addicted.
Morphine and opioids kept me wide awake so I took them sparingly.

Then there's stomach meds I no longer need.
Blood pressures, blood thinners, diuretics that were switched to other brands.
I had an adverse reaction to Beta Blockers and Calcium Channel blockers.

My daughter was once on ten or eleven meds per day.
It was crazy because most were multiple times a day.
I think she was supposed to swallow something like 60 individual tablets.
At one point she was on five antibiotics as part of that mix.
They kept switching things up, changing the combinations and types.

Yes, I have a set regimen of meds that I stick with.
In the midst of all that, I've been very conscientious to take required ones.
They change over time too though.
For example my doctor just changed my sleep med and ADHD med.
The old prescriptions weren't finished.
That means I have two more half-full brands in my collection.

I have a genetic mutation that makes it very rare for a medication to work.
I don't metabolise anything (food, vitamins, medications) properly.
My doctor admits that even antibiotics don't work right for me.
It's always trial and error.

In the usa there are “take-back” programs. SOME states let you donate if it is not a controlled substance ( most ADHD meds are ). There is a federal “flush” list where some drugs are dangerous enough that you can and should flush them to keep people safe IF you cannot find a take back program. Most sites say call the pharmacy or your doc to be sure.

Ah, I didn't know about your issue with having medications work in general.

Interesting.

Yeah, nothing's ever really worked for me.

Even when I had strep in 2011, I went through three or four complete rounds of antibiotics (total of about six weeks) and none of them even touched it. I still had the same crazy high fever and inability to swallow that I had on the first day.

They think it just finally died on its own free will.

My amino acids are messed up so I don't metabolise nutrients or vitamins properly either.
There are some that I don't metabolise at all.

I'm pretty sure I'm a cyborg.

I've been in a really good mood since starting Dexedrine for ADHD.
I don't know if it's from the med or from retirement lol.

I'll check back in after a few more weeks and see how it feels.
So far, no improvement in EF unfortunately.

Got my full prescription this month.

Well on Thursday when I went to the chemist they said they had none. They said they have an alternative but I would need to speak to my doctor because it's different doses.

So I relayed all this to my doctor and she said she would phone the pharmacist.

Then yesterday hey presto; the pharmacist phoned me to say my prescription is ready for me.

It's not the alternative either

So I'm thinking that they do have the drugs in but they're holding them back. Or just by coincidence they got a delivery.

It does sound like they are holding them back. Maybe they are rationing the meds until pressure is put upon them by a doctor in regards to a particular patient?

Well it'll be interesting to see if I do get the full 50mg because I've only been able to get 30 for the last few months. I can't even go to collect them ATM because my back has gone and I can't hardly move
