Pearl (2022)

I was casually watching it like a slasher, but I was frightened by the accurate portrayal of something I had experienced firsthand. Pearl suffers from a personality disorder, the unrealistic self-evaluation and worth bordering on narcissism, how her pain of boredom made her lose any decency and disregard for the awful things she did to people who she felt stood in the way of what she wants, the drastic transition from infatuation with a person and the eventual devaluing and discarding of the person (like the projectionist, and the other farm girl) the suspicious paranoia, the fear of abandonment, the promiscuous behavior caused by the fear of loneliness, and the sudden mood changes inappropriate for the serious situations caused by prior behavior.

This was someone I met here on the forum, actually. At first it all seems normal, or plausible, then it turned strange and disheartening, and quickly turned frightening when doubt arose. The film offered an outside perspective into the danger that I was in if it had gotten more serious. More than likely there was no helping it and my effort was futile.

:pale:

The film itself is excellent and acting all around is on point, but the convincing portrayal Mia Goth delivered was truly on another level. Highly recommended.

Lol I thought you were referring to either Pearl from SpongeBob SquarePants, Pearl from Steven Universe or Pearl from Splatoon 2!

Pearl is actually a prequel to the movie, X, in which Pearl and her husband are dementedly evil old people.

I started watching it the other day but I got bored and gave up. I could see which direction it was going in. Maybe I should pick it up where I left it and see if it has any appeal to me a second time around

That movie seems interesting. I think I might rent it on YouTube.
