There has been a lot of talk about autistic people forgetting things when they are stressed, but what about the opposite?

It's easy to get lost in one thing and forget another. I feel like I do it less nowadays tho, maybe because I journal.

good question! Too much input makes me "lose" information and recall sometimes, too much stress, anxiety, emotions, likewise. I can lock up when trying to recall something I know I know, or trying to find the right word in conversation... my processing just isn't fast enough in many "real time" situations.

Yes...

Excited enough to just impulsively start the whole thing!
Nevermind the prerequisites, conditions, preparations, whatever you may require to do or bring, and steps in between any stages.

I don't have to be excited to forget things. Whatever I'm focussing on is pretty much the only thing I'm aware of. There might be one or two blurred, nagging ideas in the mix about the stuff I'm neglecting, but not much else.
