I am curious what candidate for president do you support, and why?

I am not 100% sure yet. But I like Huckabee and Obama at this point.

I like Obama because he is fresh and brings new life to the office.

I like Huckabee also. He is different, and wants a flat retail tax, no income tax, which I cannot stand. He also is brave enough to stand against the leader of his own political party, President Bush.

Who do you want, or are you thinking of supporting?

Best,

None of the above....

I'd vote for Christopher Hitchens, but he wasn't born American.

I like Ron Paul most, Obama isn't bad.

I think our government needs change, and Dr. Paul's the most likely to bring it, short of a revolution.

Ron Paul is the one really against the income tax.

I don't know which one I like best.

I know which ones I like least.

Dennis Kucinich and Pon Raul.

Kucinich is every bad liberal cliche rolled into one and is truly anti-American, and Ron Paul is just a crackpot.

this is the weakest field of any presidential contest maybe in history

I'd like you all to start following the political career of one man: LA Gov. Bobby Jindal. Booby Jindal is the future of the Republican Party. The man speaks in the same tongue as Reagan, Goldwater, Kirkpatrick, Rice & Gingrich.

I guarantee that no matter who gets the Republican nomination in '08, the keynote address will be given by Gov. Jindal.

I ldid ike Ron Paul, and I still do. But anyone who would vote to impeach a President for a blow job, is someone who caves under popular pressure to do something stupid and irrational, and thus disqualifies him from being president IMHO.

Barack all the way, but i'm from Illinois so it's more local pride than anything else. but whenever i see him speak he doesn't piss me off, so that's a good indicator.

Hilary should not be running, short and simple. she's too polarizing and she sells out her ideals for soft money way too much, which is the last thing the country needs right now. same as McCain. Giuliani's proven himself to be a huge tool, and if he wants ANY hope he needs to stop praising George Bush so much. i do think the republicans need a moderate rather than a conversative if they want any hope of winning this time out.

btw, is it weird i kind of agree with Ron Paul on some issues?

I'd pick that over Huckabee who allowed a rapist back out on the street to rape and murder someone a year later

Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are the only ones running that I think actually say what they mean, but Gravel seems kind of insane.
It's hard to pick between Kucinich and Paul though. Kucinich is too much of a bleeding heart and too lenient on immigration, and I'm afraid that Paul will inadvertently give big business more power than it already has. But seeing as there's a good chance neither of them will win, I'll most likely end up voting third party.

You would think Mike Huckabee was the one that raped the girl and killed her from that commericial.

The Truth: Governors have to review thousands and thousands of appeals every year. They don't have time to research every criminal, their backgrouds, the circumstances of the crime, and the likely chance the person will reoffend. So they rely on the advice and recommendions and determinations of professionals that review these cases. Governors are forced to release thousands of prisoners every years because of limited prison space and federal requirements that they meet certain space requirements. Professional psychologists and others review which ones are least likely to reoffend. They then make those recommendations to the Governor who is civilian administrator, not an expert in criminal psychology, and unless the governor has a strong reason to object, goes with the experts advice. Sadly, they sometimes get it wrong. Sometimes a person that appears to be reformed, isn't, and slips through. It happens in very state. No matter who was governor at the time, probably wouldn't have also taken the recommendation rather than sorting through them all and second guessing the people that have good statistics supporting their recommendations.
If you can come up with a way to determine which ones will reoffend and which ones won't with 100% accuracy, you should patent it because every state would buy it for millions. Until then, we have to realize people will on a great occassion make a mistake. But the person responsible for the death of that woman is the person that raped her and killed.

Best,

Idaho Aspie

Right now, I'm supporting Ron Paul, although I could be persuaded to vote for Obama. I will never vote for Hillary or Giuliani. If no one good is elected to the two main parties, I'll probably vote Libertarian or Socialist or something.

Ron Paul all the way!

BTW, DejaQ, swinging between Libertarian and Socialist seems a bit odd. The two are kind of at opposite ends.

Not at all... Libertarianism has quite a broad spectrum of beliefs. I consider myself to be a Libertarian Socialist.

I'm a socialist-leaning libertarian myself. From what I read on the US Socialist Party, they seem libertarian to some degree.
