I watched the landing. Glad everything turned out well. It was live on TV, so it was a first for me to watch in this kind of breaking action.

Here are some local L.A. reports. With video and pics.

WHAT FANTASTIC landing by that pilot! Unbelievable. One of the articles said he balanced the plane on its rear wheels for most of the landing.

WELL DONE!

That was some great landing, no doubt about it.

The one concern I had during the landing was when the nose gear's jammed tire was burning because of the rubber only to have no incidents . The plane did a lot of circuling for a long time in order to lose fuel and slow down. That probably scared a lot of passengers in that plane. But the most nerve wrecking part had to be as the plane was coming down to the LAX runaway. They said the plane used up 95% of the longest runaway at the airport. Is that a lot?

Yes, that is a lot. Means they almost didn't make it. I don't know what is beyond the runway but I beleive planes tend to flip over once they run out of runway.

It was a very smart move to circle around and use up the fuel.

Was browsing through channels last night and caught it live.

That was quite a light show as the front nosegear disintigrated at 100+ mph.

A jet blue airline had a plane take off from LAX in route cross country to JKF. When they took off the nose gear broke and got stuck in a 90 degree right-hand turn postion.

The plane had to land with the nose gear trying to turn the plane to the right and the pilot managed to hold the plane on the runway.

The tires smoked until they blew out and then the bare rims and what looks to be quite a bit of the strut were ground down to nothing on the runway as the plane slowed down, creating a spectacular light show.

Wow, that sounds like that was extremely hard; the pilot will probably have a good point on their resime. I never watched it, but I'm sure that it'll be playing all week.

I bet that pilot got a big bonus and the passengers got a free change of underwear.
