I wish we could colonize in mars or I could live to see that day. :(

Yes...all these years we thought of Pluto as a planet and not it is no longer one.

Personally, I love to star gaze although I was impressed when I saw the rings of Saturn through a university telescope.

When did this happen?

Wow, I need to get a new book on the solar system and get rid of any old ones.

Pluto's not a planet anymore?

What else did I miss, any signs of life on mars?

no, I don't care for the solar system, and personally believe it is overrated

The new definition for a planet determined that there are 8 planets and 3 (or there were 4?) Planetoids.

Pluto's not a planet anymore?

After the discovery of Eris, a Kuiper-belt object bigger than Pluto, astronomers were forced to actually define the term "planet". The first proposed definition would have permitted keeping Pluto, but would have added Eris, four or five other Kuiper objects, and the asteroid Ceres to the roster of planets. The other, which they wound up going with, placed a lower limit on the size of a planet, which left Pluto, Eris, Ceres, and the other small ones in the new category of "dwarf planet".

(For those who only paid attention to the beginning of the controversy, and don't recognize Eris, that's the official name, for the Greek goddess of discord. The astronomer who first discovered it, in an impish mood, gave it a temporary tag of "Xena" until things got settled.)

I love the solar system and all its planets, satellites, asteroids, comets,... and also the dwarf planets. :D

I think it was the right thing to reclassify Pluto in light of the recent discoveries in the Kuiper belt. But there's still much debate about it and some astronomers don't accept it.

Saturn's rings are one of the most beautiful things to see through a telescope. I was also impressed the first time I saw them.

Pluto isn't even the size of our moon.

And why was Pluto treated like an animal, while Goofy, also a dog, got to walk upright and wear clothes? :D

I can never keep track of how many moons Earth has. It seems that even Cruithne is no longer regarded as a proper moon.
