In France:

Holding Therapy for autistic children is practice
Wrapping children in icy sheets its cool
Autism is caused by the relationship with the mother.

Apparently france is a 3rd world country, when it comes to autism..

This is a very sad documentary. I had no idea that France was still so backwards on it's views on autism. Children who have a lot of potential to learn are being treated in an old fashioned and disproved way. Guilliem and his brothers are very lucky to have a mother like her.

You can find something similar in Italy. As a parent, I'm lucky to know that something other exists. I found a competent neuropsichiatrist who recommended ABA and speech therapy for my son, but only 10 years ago I wouldn't have this chance.
Public health services only provide 4 hours a week of psicodynamic therapy (fortunately, not packaging).
I wrote to Autistic Advocacy organizations in USA to make them know this. In Italy, I don't know of the existence of organizations run by autistic people. I don't know any autistic adults but sadly I can imagine they are institutionalized.
This happens in Europe. I'm so glad to know that WP people exist and to communicate with them.
I don't have any financial support to provide appropriate education for my son but I'm glad I can give him a chance.

I understand you....

This is really how most of autistic children are treated....
The psychoanalysts make a strong pressure and forbid french TV channel to release this movie ( the wall).

In France, TV channel are under their control....:-(

Meh, the most I could do would be to put pressure, since I technically am (or eligible for) a french citizen. =/

Good thing people in Quebec aren't that wacky, yet. :p

French people live in the elite culture. it is very "tendance" to be cultivated, to talk about psychoanalysis, the French found the psychaoanlysts very originals, free thinkers. while they are exactly the opposite.
the French think that they are above the others, but ultimately they are underneath, behind all ....
Only the pressure from other countries can change that

that's why I put all this subtitles

this movie will be watched at the next ABAI autism conference at philadelphie, in Jan 2012.

Tony Attwood watched the movie and this is his reaction

Thank you so much for your email and link to the YouTube sections from the documentary on the psychoanalytical approach to autism and Asperger’s syndrome in France. I am slowly going through the movies as I think they are so important and my own clinical opinion is that psychoanalysis is actually dangerous for children with autism but also their parents, especially the child’s mother.

I return to France every two years and will be back in Paris in early June next year. When I present information on alternative approaches, I do know that parents are often quite stunned that there is an alternative approach and some of the professionals have great difficulty comprehending that there is an alternative and I would say, more effective, approach.

Do pass on to the law firms that are preparing a legal argument that I would like to offer my support to them as I think this is so important for French families and especially for the children.

Thank you so much for sending the links to the YouTube videos.

And the reaction of Donna Williams:

fact is that neurologically impaired kids with sensory perceptual

disorders do need a family that is switched on, present, able to put

their neurosis and dramas and ego aside and without engulfing

co-dependency embrace the adventure of working with those issues so

the child with them doesn't encapsulate against a world that is

cognitively overwhelming... but the psychoanalysts need to go back to

school

So..I am wainting for YOUR reactions! ;-)

thank you for sharing this..if you have ideas to mediate this movie, please let me know!
