Also, about being your own species... Asperger syndrome is the result of genetic abnormalities that in turn lead to a radically altered brain structure. I've read a lot about how the human brain works, and how Aspergers and autism spectrum disorders affects brain functioning and signaling. In a very real sense, we (Asperger sufferers) are a
race of our own. Maybe these things are true about you as well, but in a more absolute way. If that's the case, it doesn't mean it's game over for you, it means you need to look inside yourself and figure out what's going on. You need to start doing this as soon as possible.

Academically, I know I'm a human, but emotionally I feel like I can't be because I can't relate to all the people I encounter and I don't really care what they're feeling. What I most can't relate to is their ability to have friends and often be in the company of others instead of by themself like I nearly always am and frankly prefer to be. I am working with a therapist to try to figure this all out as you suggest.
