Tell me what you think of how we will survive the coming dark side of technology when we are replaced by computers.

We will all become Internet Millionaires and support our friends and families with our vast amounts of our easy earned money.

I think you're overestimating what computers can do. Computers are stupid and require constant maintenance so I don't see how they could possible replace us.

As long as computers don't gain sentience and figure out how to work independently, then we should be fine. If they do however, we'll have to nip their technology in the bud before they start building armies of robotic killers to destroy humanity, a la The Terminator. :P Don't forget, every robot out there has a computer guiding its actions, so sentient computers will equal sentient robots.

The dark side of computing is already here. The internet viruses that attack and ruin personal computers that people work hard to pay for are the dark side of computing, to my eyes. The people who teach themselves how to play with computers and the first thing they learn to do is attack other computers, steal identities and make life difficult for everyday, normal people. Not mentioning even those computer "geniuses" who waste their talents stealing money instead of using their abilities to help people.

I've been playing with computers all my life and I've never attempted to use my talents to write malware, steal money, or steal people's personal info. I wouldn't call myself a "computer genius", but at the same time I know a few things about computers, and I kind of wish I wouldn't be conflated with scumbags who do steal identities and wreck people's computers.

It's very simple, the dark side will come when computers will be able to make decisions on their own.

Will the sentient computers try to kill us or just make us irrelevant?
Will they keep us as pets or will we merge with them?
If we become super intelligent computers, would that mean we won't be us anymore?

I was taught in a computer application course I took in high-school that computers are considered to be perfect but the humans who use them & fix them are not. I think any technology that is computer related will be considered perfect & thus have no dark side but the humans involved may not be perfect & cause problems so therefor it is humans who will be responsible for the dark side instead of the technology itself.

That would be the dark side of people, not the dark side of technology. Technology is inanimate and has no light and dark or any morality because it has no sentience. Technology is a tool that can be used for different intents but like guns, hammers, rocks, pen and ink, etc, it has no morality, so no light and no dark.

i don't think there will ever be a big 'dark' uprising of technology. it makes for great sci-fi movies/books though. :D

being part robot would be cool, don't you think?

I just saw an interesting documentary by a guy who has some good reasons for why advanced AI any time soon is unlikely, and he makes the case that we are in the midst of ongoing evolution. Very interesting. Here is part three:

I would love to have cybernetic implants, for things like stronger muscles, stronger bones, faster mental processing, just so long as they didn't contain RFID tags or tracking devices that could be used to spy on me with.

I'd be open to cybernetic eyes because I have a rare low vision disorder that limits me more than Aspergers does.
