Speaking as a Christian...

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: God is three persons in unity (don't ask me to explain exactly how this works, baseline humans aren't capable of understanding it completely, but I think we can get a vague idea) and each person of the trinity worships the other two. So, the Father worships the Son and the Spirit, the Spirit worships the Father and the Son, and the Son worships the Father and the Spirit. Worship, here, meaning that they hold absolutely nothing back and give their entirety to the other. Which overlaps with the idea of the trinity, for obvious reasons - they are so intertwined that they are in consensus about everything, and can't really be said to have separate thoughts...

There are philosophies that would suggest that we're all meditations of The One Mind. If that's the case then God worships itself every time someone lifts their intent in prayer.

It's something perhaps analogous to what would happen if the whole cast of Harry Potter had an organized Rowlingism complete with its own Book of Rowling and related creeds and rituals. That would probably be a series JK would keep for her own reading pleasure rather than try to sell on the open market (I'd at least take a pass on it) but that's the analogy.

The act of worship is the act of detaching yourself from your own ego in order to honor a transendent diety.

So you're asking: if that diety (if he exists) sublimates his own ego in order to affirm his own ego? Kinda like asking "what's north of the North Pole?".

It's complicated...trust me!

For the question to be 'answered', we first must be aware that there exists no distinction between 'God' and 'Himself' or even 'God' and 'Yourself'...it's all tied up in that word 'self' (ego).

What entity could be separate from God that would allow God to worship Himself as a God?

When we break it down into 'God' and 'self', duality is created...a dichotomy which cannot represent the unmanifest, eternal God (Brahman).

We say 'Aum Namah Shivaya' and that basically means 'I worship Shiva'.

Another popular mantra is 'Shivoham' meaning 'I AM Shiva'.

So, how can one worship Shiva (according to Puranic scripture) and BE Shiva (according to the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya) simultaneously?

Who are you worshiping when you worship? Is there really a 'you' still there?

When a person falls in love, can they think of themselves when they are with their beloved? do they not 'become' the object of desire through association with it?

Everything material is thus described by 'association' and how something represents by comparison only. What can be even 'associated' with God?

What I am talking about isn't an exercise in intelligence, seeking to find out things through using the brain and using our usual, rational thought processes...it goes way beyond that.

There's no difference between 'God' and 'Self' and I am not talking about the small 'ego' here, but I do believe the term 'Soul' (Atman) comes the closest.

So, God doesn't really need to 'worship' himself, because God doesn't have any 'self' to worship. He just is, was and always will be.

...and so I shall say;

Aum Namah Shivaya

That is a rather loose definition of "worship", and the idea of "trinity" is an extrapolation of Scripture. Yahuah is One, not three.

Agreed:

Quote:
WORSHIP, v.t. (Webster, 1828)
1. To adore; to pay divine honors to; to reverence with supreme respect and veneration.
2. To respect; to honor; to treat with civil reverence.
3. To honor with extravagant love and extreme submission; as a lover.

WORSHIP, v.i.
1. To perform acts of adoration.
2. To perform religious service.

Why would a Sovereign Creator ever need, want or even consider self-worship?

Belief and worship always are directed to: The One (or Ones)That Came Before,

although (upon reflection) hitler, stalin, and other fellow travelers certainly worshiped themselves;
maybe satan would too.

The real God would have no need to.
