talking with people you like
I don't really talk to people unless I need to communicate a piece of information to them or extract a piece of information from them, as I can't really small talk.
After a couple of days in a work or classroom environment, sometimes girls approach me when they see me and ask me a few questions, I think it's because I seem to be different from everyone else (perhaps due to my odd social isolation) and they seem curious.
I can be friendly with someone and carry a conversation with them if I like them, and I assume that if they help carry the conversation and make eye contact (instead of giving short answers and not making much eye contact) that they like me too, especially if they smile a lot during the conversation.
Then when I see that they just seem to socialize with everyone that way I feel sad because I realize that I was just misinterpreting and that it didn't really mean anything. After all, they can't like everyone right?
I think I just cant tell the difference between friendliness and if they like me.
I've never been in a relationship before, and if I did get together with them I probably couldn't fulfill their social expectations anyway as I'm only interested in 1:1 relationships and there is this weird thing where you are expected to inherit their friends or something and go to all the group social events.
