I am nealry 25 years old have brown eyes mixed with green but to most people they look brown not dark brown though. I asked my mum what age will they change to green and she "when your 30 years old." Why would 30 be the age range where my eyes might switch to green? Do certain changes happen to your body when your that age. Not as dramatic as switching from brown to blue but still.

I also notice my eyes start to look more green when I am sleep deprived :?

I like having hazel/ brown eyes and I don't want them to change to some green colour :(

On a side note my mums eyes are slightly darker than mine but she has a bit of green in her eyes as well and my dad has blue/grey eyes. My dads eyes looked more blue when he was younger but now there more washed out.

I don't think that's strictly true. My eyes look different depending on the lighting or the color of what I'm wearing. I'm over 30 and my eyes are not one fixed color.

What is it about reaching 30 where these kind of changes happen? :?

No changes happen when you reach 30. My eyes have always been this color. My eye color didn't change at 30. I've never heard of anyone saying that eye color changes at 30.

the *30* is completely irrelevant.
Eye colour is usually set around the age of three, but can apparently change due to hormonal changes, like puberty and menopause, and injury.
And some genetic factors.

The reason you find your eyes to seem to have a different colour once in a while is that eye-colour is determined by a mixture of 2 factors: brown pigments, and the structure itself.
The blue of eyes is due to a similar mechanism as the one that makes the sky blue, but different from the mechanism that colours the testicles of guenons or the wings of butterflies blue.

As far as I know, a person's eye color only changes when a very young infant.

At first, it seems as if most babies have "baby blue" eyes. Then, after a few months, the baby's eye color, in most cases, changes to either green, hazel, or brown.

I happen to have blue eyes which--depending upon the light, mood, etc. could be green or gray as well.
