Do you have any idea what type of activities are planned?
Formal presentations are currently being called for: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt252557.html

Other activities will be organized by participants, so will depend on participants' initiatives. In the past, similar events had such activities - glowstick night, dance night, t-shirt painting, making sock puppets, African drumming and dance, making soap bubbles, fipple night (informal get-together to make music and sing), family feud game, painting mandalas, yoga workshop, drama workshop, making jewelry workshop, shintaido (Japanese movement) workshop, interlingua workshop, stim room, stim tent.

vickygleitz wrote:
And is everyone required to go to each activity?
Not at all.
All activities are optional.
You only participate in whatever activities you want to participate in.
You could even spend the entire event just sitting on a bench in the yard, if you wish, or staying in your room.

I hear that people will have more of a choice in food than in other retreats back east. True?
Yes, the choice of food is expected to be more varied than at Autreat.

vickygleitz wrote:
Also, is there a swimming pool?
Yes, the campus has one, but I don't know which hours it would be open for participants to swim in.

vickygleitz wrote:
Internet access?
Yes, there is Wi-Fi internet access in most of the venue, including the dorms.

At AutHaven last week, we thought about a glowstick party but there weren't really enough attendees. I know there will be many more at the retreat in PA, so a glowstick party would be awesome with that many people. Will there be on in PA?
If anyone volunteers to organizer it then there will be one!

KenG, has pricing information for the event been made available?

Not yet, but since the venue is the same as Autreat 2013's, pricing is expected to be similar:

Full registration for Autreat 2013 was -
http://www.autreat.com/aut13fees.html

Partial registration for Autreat 2013 was -
http://www.autreat.com/aut13fees-days.html

You should have come to autHaven in Colorado a couple of weeks ago if the price is a sticking point. And make plans to join us next year. It'll be 4 days for $225, less if you need a partial scholarship.

Colorado is way too far. Pittsburgh is better because it's only 3 hours away. The most horrifying part is I'm going to take a bus :tired:

Actually, you really should start saving up. Ari Neeman is one of the organizers of the PA retreat, and you remind me so such of a younger version of him[ he is still very young himself and when I say you remind me of him that is a huge compliment]

New here, so this could be politically-fraught and I'm not aware, but what about NeurodiverCity? As if it represents a safe space for the exchange and diffusion of knowledge?

Thank you, that's really nice. Is Neeman how you pronounce his name (because I usually see an apostrophe in it)?

I hope it's a fun retreat

Will there be WP members at "NeurodiverCity"?

Honestly, the first time I paid attention to any of your posts, Ari Neeman [ always forget where to put the apostrophe] popped into my head. [and in no way because of any physical comparisons] If you are going to the new Autreat, I would be honored to make a small donation to help with your spending money. I hope others will as well. I believe that you are going to make huge and positive changes in the Autistic Community and that the sooner you get to personally know some of the Autistic activist leaders, the sooner you will be effecting those changes.

You are very kind. I hope to be active in the autistic community. Ari Ne'eman is one of my idols in the community. In fact, I just learned that the college I'm transferring to in a couple years is his alma mater. I'm starting to save my money for the conference ($8 so far :) ) and one thing I think will be interesting is the high concentration of autists (I've never met many people like me personally)

You all are so talented and funny! I'm giggling at the cute ideas for titles!

I am very excited about this conference as well and thanks for posting about it.

Titles are hard. They always make me feel like it's making a big decision, which goes against my autnature, such as questions asking me to decide my favorite whatever.

In addition, the advent of the Internet makes it terribly hard to find a title that hasn't been used, or perhaps overused.

For my money, you can call it Blank Fest and I'd try to attend!

I definitely plan on attending this year :) I live in Canada and went last year, and I loved it :) Can't wait to go again especially since it is new and refreshed this year!
