i was given it for ADD... i can understand how people kill themselves on it. it is very incidious, in my hippie daze i did some tripping but Strettera was the first time i ever halunicated.. i slowly began to live in a world that was dank dark and filled with eminent hidious death. i began to prepare for the catastrophic end of the world where everyone was dead but me.. friends and family everyone else.. i was in a world where there was no hope of survival and there was no where to go, but everyone was going to be dead so i couldnt stay where i was.

i got lost in those thoughts upon waking and it was hard to break free of them and get out of bed... i finally flushed that crap and waited with clenched teeth for it to get out of my system. i feel like i will never be the same.. i have a dark walking depression and the images still haunt me, and my mind is dull and not clear.

i also experienced amphetamine like symptoms.. a roaring mental spinning of the wheels but not getting any thoughts done. and a loss of appetite that percists 6 months later. and i am still not sure about the future.. the images still linger

i cried alot thinking of the children forced to take it...

Link> http://www.strattera.ws/ or just google "Strattera failed antidepresent" it was recycled from a failed antidepresent trial, they fiddled the statistics and recycled it as an ADD treatment.. but it is still in a drug class classasified as an anti depresent that is known to cause suicide.

I was put on Strattera a couple of yrs ago now. (July 04) I was advised that I may be drowsy at first... I was exhausted for the time I was on it. I lost weight-I was 35kg, and very suicidal. I had dreams where death seemed good, and I was considering it as an option to get away, to It was exam time, and my stress levels were high. The School coucellor, Mrs D, was mildly concerned at my drop in self esteem, motivation, and how exhausted, and slighty (understatement) gaunt I was. The Special Needs teacher Mrs T, (Ring any bells to any one?) was very concerned. She was there on every corner, biting her lip as I dropped kgs and lost the will to live. "S*r*h, you can come and talk to me, you know this." "S*r*h, are you sure you're ok? Are you sure?" She wasn't blind. I was taken off at Christmas-the side affects were too great.

I tried it briefly for my daughter's ADHD symptoms, but it did not seem to help at all and it sometimes made her vomit, so she did not stay on it for long. She had used Concerta before which seemed to help a lot, but she needed to stop taking it, so the doctor suggested Strattera as a possible non-stimulant alternative.

I know another little guy my daughter's age who takes Strattera and who seems to be helped very much by it. He has no side effects, but he is not on the spectrum. He can't take stimulants either but his ADHD symptoms without Strattera were very pronounced. I watched him and his little sister so his parents could go out together and he was like the Energizer Bunny on speed! He made my daughter seem inactive and focused compared to him. He seems more focused and calmer with the Strattera.

I guess it is an individual thing. Different people react differently because their bodies are different.

Your reaction was terrible. It certainly had no anti-depressant effect for you. If anything, it was just the opposite. How long did you stay on it?

I got a sample of 40mg Strattera from a doctor. It didn't do anything at all for me. I tried taking two pills, and that just made me nauseous. Which is EXACTLY what Prozac did for me.. The nausea in both cases was this really weird clenched, burning sensation. I thought that was odd, because they are completely unrelated and supposedly operate in very different ways.

I ended up going to a different doctor, who diagnosed me with ADD and prescribed Ritalin. He told me that he thinks Strattera is not at all effective, and is just around because Ritalin and the other stimulants have a bad reputation.

BTW, Ritalin helps me immensely--I'm much more able to concentrate and get tasks done, plus it has helped tremendously with my depression and social anxiety. I'd highly recommend it if you haven't tried it yet.

I might be mixing it up with Concerta, but if I remember right all it did make me really paranoid and trippy. OCD to the max on the stuff, like most medications now.
