I noticed that there is a forum here called 'Women's Discussion', yet there is no forum for men. Could there possible be a Men's Discussion here for us men to discuss stuff amongst each other that the females can't really relate to?

There was one. It was deleted. It was underused, misused and needed high maintenance. (IIRC)

Overall (and not just here on WP), it seems men tend to send women off to have their own discussions because they (the men) cannot relate or even just do not care, but then they (men) think everybody ought to be paying attention to their (men's) discussions, so there is no need to go elsewhere ... and then we would just become self-conscious and not say much anyway. And of course, many women would peek in to see what we were up to ... and that is what at least some of us wanted in the first place, eh?!

Wrongplanet doesn't have a Men's Discussion Forum because most of the guys here are too young to be worrying about prostate cancer, and after somebody's spent a lifetime being aspie they don't care if they die eight years early.

Because men are the majority here. Like in the rest of society, only minorities unite into groups (racial, ethnic, gender) to feel stronger as one.

I think it's largely because the "Adult Autism Issues" section is, to a large extent, a "Male Issues" forum, so the separate section for male issues was redundant. It's not like men are banned from saying anything on the "Women's Discussion" forum anyways, it's just a section for mostly female issues. Sometimes guys have good contributions to it, too. Any post can begin with a statement of who it's directed towards and why it's being posted, though. Like, if there's an issue you want feedback from other guys on, you can always say "Hey, I'm wondering if any of the other guys here feel like _________." or something like that. (BTW, since the Women's Discussion topics show up on the main list a www.wrongplanet.net, sometimes guys post replies to Women's Discussion topics without even noticing that's where it was.)

Basically the mens discussion was removed because the males used it as an excuse to completely objectify women like it was a high school jocks locker room.

Its a shame that those people had to ruin it for everyone.

Actually it's because there used to be one and no one really posted in it. I don't think there are many specific issues that men would only discuss with each other, while there are more specific female related things that are more personal for the ladies. The "Adult Autism Issues" section is not meant as a "Male Issues" forum. It is meant as a forum for issues related to sexuality and intimacy and its for both sexes. The question in the title of this thread has been asked many times over. There is no need for a men's forum.

What I meant was that (from what I've heard) the "Men's Issues" forum was used the same way as the "Adult Autism Issues" forum is, which is why it was "underused and misused."

There has been generations of members asking what happened to the Men's Discussion Section. I was changed into the 'In-depth Adult' DiscussionSection about three years ago. There is a Men's Forum stickied there http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt101191.html that is active.

1. HAving one for women, and one for men and women is still not fair, Women get their own but guys have to share?

2. Woman get their own forum and guys only get a thread, etter but not equal.

I thought the Love & Dating board was the mens board, but now that you mention it, it might be a good idea having a mens only board, they can talk
about their feelings, maybe give each other a bit of a cuddle if they are upset, or they can compare which hygienic products are best for their manly parts.

In the four and a half weeks that the "Men's forum" sticky has existed, it has acquired 28 replies of variable merit. That just goes to show how much it needs to be sticky - or it would sink away.

The oldest thread on the first page of the "Women's Discussion" forum is just three weeks old.

Whenever Alex has reorganised the forums, he has done so mainly on the basis of usage. If a forum is not being used much, or is being regularly misused, then it tends to go. This is called evolution - it has nothing to do with being "fair".

Fair? It wasn't done to be fair or not fair.
Are you saying that the Women's Discussion forum needs to have its name also changed?

But um, it's not like guys are banned from the "Women's Discussion" forum. Plenty of guys do post there. (Some of them don't realize it until later, because the topics there are listed on the main page..) Sometimes guys have quite helpful things to say in response to Women's Discussion topics! (My spellchecker is underlining "Women's" as incorrect. The only remotely feasible option it's giving as the "correct" word is "Womenfolk's." :?: :!: )

I guess so, 'cause apparently "Women's" isn't a word, and it's supposed to be "Womenfolk's." 8O :lmao:
