Hey guys!

I write and produce Ambient music under the name White Origins - linkness.

I create concept albums, and am considering my next album to hold some concept about Autism... but I am unsure which direction to take... what kind of ideas.

I write music that features little to no drums (consider it "beatless" music); features no vocals; and can sometimes have little to no time structure/rhythm.

If anyone would like to share ideas about how I could incorporate some aspect(s) of Autism into my next album, please share. Anyone who helps would be thanked in the credits.

Please check out my site for more information about me - linkageness.

Thanks in advance!! !! !! !! !! !

Rikki / White Origins :D

some kind of cool underlying pattern, that those with great attention to detail would notice :-) Hold a note/chord for a long time (stim) - pauses with "uncomfortable" silence (that NT folks feel compelled to fill) but perhaps with autism, that's another interesting aspect of the sound. But, at the same time, perhaps another part honors the aspect of "rountine" with an underlying unchanging pattern through the whole piece, like i said at the start. do-mi-re-mi (silence) ping. Could there be a mathmatical twist? Would love to hear what you do.

I really like that idea!! !! !! !! !! !! Thanks innermusic.

Chances are, I would have ended up incorporating a long-held chord anyway, just without realising the idea could be done from your point of view. Thank you for making me aware of such a simple, yet powerful technique!

Bare in mind I am talking about a whole album here, so numerous ideas are welcomed.

innermusic, I will get in touch with you at some point to ask how you would like me to credit you!

Could you please elaborate on the "mathematical twist"?

Hello - no credit necessary, it was just a thought. My son likes "industrial" sounds in music - sounds of gears and such. Have you heard any old stuff by OMD? Dazzle Ships has a song that he got sucked into. A,B,C... 1,2,3 over and over. A recording of calling "time" on the phone in several languages overlapping. Check it out.

Also, if folks with autism seem not to be in sync with emotions of other people (or at least not understood by others) - from what I've seen, the opposite is true with music, animals, etc...

Maybe if you did a song reflecting the pleasure of being alone - a nice song, pleasant music. And another that loses it's harmony and melody to represent the disconnect with other people - a more frustrating sounding music for that? Busy, busy, bumblebees that all communicate so well (the social ones) - but part of the song that has a different beat, that just doesn't seem to jive with the hive for autism :-)

Mathmatical? I'm not sure. My dad said he hated traditional music classes. But after HS, he taught himself via a mathmatical way.. not sure what that was, perhaps someone else knows. But there is science to the sound, isn't there?
