I have a friend with Asperger's who lives with a roommate with a brain injury and they are two different people. However, this roommate made some really nasty comments about my friend saying how he is a screw up because his brain is messed up and can't ever function like a normal human being because he has Autism since he is so into his own world. He had even made comments that my friend will never ever be capable to of showing emotions and that whenever he smiles, it's a sign of confusion. I mean, he acts as if he knows a lot about Autism yet he claims that he didn't know much about it until 4 years ago when my friends moved in with him.

How should I tell him that I don't appreciate him bashing my friend behind his back like that?

First off which friend was the one being called the names and second off what do you mean by how should you tell him you didn't approach this?

Anyway I'm going to assume that you want it to stop?

Probably tell him he should move out and find another roomate. If it's the guy with the head injury doing the name calling I wouldn't get in the middle of it. I've worked with head injured patients and they are not the easiest to deal with, some aren't even aware or conscious as to what they're doing.

The AS guy one the otherhand could be dealt with, that is if it's him doing the bullying. But seems like it's something your friend's going to have to deal with. The best thing you can do right now is help them look for options or just be there to support them.

It's the person with the head injury saying this stuff about my friend with AS who happens to be into his own world. He also makes comments that he isn't capable of ever having a relationship of any kind with another person or even showing emotion with him.
