Found the thread "shy bladder" & it got me wondering how common pee/urine test issues are for us... (I'm weird  )

Crap, I think my " I'm a freakin' creep for asking this" option is gone :(

No question you ask can make you a creep :) I'm not sure if I have Asperger's or not so my answer 'bout the pee test may hold little weight. Anyways, if I do have these issues as asked in your question, it's usually only because of nerves. Hospital bathrooms..yikes.

I have such issues. It would be best, if I didn't get into the details.

When I was in the military I got detailed to go watch people pee for random drug tests. I had to squat down in front of the women and watch the pee come out of their bodies and enter the cup. It was horrible for both me and the subjects. I also was picked a few times at random as well. When I had to give samples for drug testing for civilian companies I was very relieved that no one was going to be studying me like that. I have never taken illegal drugs, so I just have a modesty issue with tests, not a fear of being caught or anything.

I have had to take 2 pee tests for probation. Both times I tried but couldnt go with someone watching. I must have drank a gallon of water before I went in. There were mirrors in front of me and a guy watching behind me. I just about pissed myself sitting in the waiting room. I dont know if it was the guy watching or if it was knowing that I was going to fail my test. Im not sure if they counted it as a hot UA or a miss cause I barely got a few drops out. It didnt matter anyway cause because a few days later I learned of a mistake my probation officer made and my probation was over.

For a long time I thought that all my problems were caused by this. This was before AS was known about.

I kind of think logically there could be a connection with AS. Its the brain processing social information. There are automatic muscles (not under conscious control) that involved somehow get told not to relax.

That makes me wonder if oxytocin would help with shy-bladder. :?:

I have issues with this one, definitely...I find it to be quite embarrassing  ...I don't think it has anything to do with me being an Aspie though.

Edit: Typos. >.<

I don't have any physical problems with it, but I really hate doing it.

I have just plain pee issues. I still urinated in inappropriate places up to the age of thirteen even though I was using toilets at the age of five (training started at two but I wasn't any good at it). I was okay a few years then had trouble again age nineteen. Then I started developing the opposite problem due to a spastic urethra and that worsened for ten years, and now I'm scheduled for an implant that electronically reduces the spasms.

As for pee tests those became a problem when the spasms started, although not always. And then once I was punitively catheterized during admission to a mental institution because I screwed up the sequencing and held the cup down there, took it out, closed it, and THEN peed. And I frequently have trouble holding the cup in the right spot to the point where I ask to pee in a hat. But all of my pee test problems have to do with problems I also had outside of pee tests.

Well, my case I've had problems with relaxing my muscles, generally not liking anyone watch me pee or having to aim into a freakin' cup & stress causing me to strain to the point that even as a kid I bled... not like normal peeing, that's less awkward.

I can't pee when anybody is nearby or might be looking.

And it's not because I am insecure and think that I have a small 'member'.

It's just that my little chap tightens up and won't let any liquid pass; I can't explain it.

It must be something to do with my potty training all those years ago.

In fact, my little fellow is sometimes even reluctant to become erect in the presence of sexy others. 8O

I wouldn't really have these issues... The only way for that to work is if you drink plenty of fluids before you start going for your test, hopefully that would help a little more.

Hang on... Pee test? :eew:

I always had issues when I had to pee in front of anyone. if I can hear other people, i can't.

yes I did have to do testing for probation too the whole mirror deal, the only way it finnaly worked was to get the guy to wait outside until I started to get a flow then he could watch.

Now there is this whole hunter instinct idea that is tied to the aspie persona, perhaps this is not unlike cats burying theirs, by deficating near where the group is you could alert preiditor or prey of your location.

Yup, always have issues with this. And I have a horribly shy bladder. The only thing that helps is taking my mind off it by repeating something I've memorized.
