I don't know how often it's appropriate to contact a person, particularly those who won't get back to you. I'm not the sort of person who's clingy and bugs people who don't like me, but I seem to have those friends who say they are calling back and never do.

For instance: I have one friend that was supposed to call yesterday but didn't. (Her bf was supposed to give the message but I never know if he does.) I had something I wanted to tell her but she has to actually call for me to do that. She only has two days a week she's available to talk, so if she doesn't call back during those days we have to wait another week. Last time it was 3 weeks until she called :? (We live in different states, so we don't see each other.)

If you call to give a person an important message and they don't call back, do you just wait (even if they take a month to call back)? If you email and they don't respond, is there an appropriate action?

I would e-mail, and then wait two weeks.

Don't take it personally. When I'm really busy, I even avoid responding to phone calls from my brother and sister and I'm an NT

I like the two week rule, myself.

If you have fairly urgent information to impart, I don't think calling back after waiting 24 hours is out of line. If it was really important I'd try again after a few hours. You can't depend on disinterested third parties and distracted family members to deliver messages in a timely fashion - if they don't write it down, they forget, if they do write it down they lay it down somewhere and forget. Even if I left a message with a professional secretary or assistant, I wouldn't wait more than two days without calling back, just in case they never got the message. Email is more dependable, if the person you're trying to reach checks their email regularly. Some do, some don't. Call her back. Or send her a text message.

This friend has a parent in the hospital, she may or may not know. Her family has basically disowned her and doesn't tell her stuff like that so I just thought she might like to know. I called again today but she won't answer. Guess we'll have to wait another week.

I think it really depends upon your relationship with the person and the reason you are contacting them.

I have a question for you.

I met this guy on the internet last week. I emailed him on Saturday, he answered back. So I responded on Monday and he replied the same day.

Can I email him again? It would be nice if he agrees on being my penpal for a while (he's going to move back to my city for September).

We agreed on seeing each other when he'll came back, but I don't know what to do until then.

HELP!! !

Élodie

Wow, that's pretty major. Does she have any friends or sibings that you know of? You could contact them and ask them to pass the information along.
