There's two ads for a children's ADHD medication that are driving some WPers crazy. One is a boy bouncing up and down like he's on a trampoline. The other is a little girl who is made to look like she's spitting pills out of her mouth. I don't like to block ads because I understand that WP has bills to pay, but those two ads are driving a lot of us with sensory issues crazy. It's the same issues we have with the flashing "you are the 100,000th browser" ads. I haven't seen many of those lately, but the ADHD ads seem like they're custom made to drive those of us with actual ADHD crazy.

Have you tried ADHD meds...? Me, cynical...? :D

There's a lot of advertising I find harmful. I can protect myself from a lot of it on line, but it's more difficult when bombarded with shouty logos in the real world. The likes of google ads can sometimes do amusingly inappropriate things - I'm on an aviation forum where pilots frequently (and quite rightly) protest about the danger to aircraft caused by laser pointers in the wrong hands. Google sees the word 'laser', and what do you think it advertises alongside...? :D

I was just distracted by that jumping ad as I got to this part of the forum! I was scrolling down, and he was jumping up and down, and it made my head feel really bad. Ahhhhhh! It's pretty ironic to advertise ADHD medication by showing really distracting things...

Unfortunately those are the highest paying ads we're serving right now by a long shot. I'm about to spend $1,000 on upgrading Wrong Planet's software engine so we need as much money as we can get right now.

Big Pharma has plenty of money, it's only reasonable that they give some to WP. So, then, I will just tolerate it. The ads are for an ADHD drug called Focalin, and as I said the drug makers have lots of money.
