This is a spin off thread from Stupid Baby names. Now this about last names.

I knew a teacher in my elementary school and her last name was Fordney. Ford-knee. When I was 13, my math teacher was named Ms. Cleveland.
When I was seven years old, I had a duty lady named Mrs. Niehaus (knee-house) and then four years later her kids happened to go to my school and they had that last name too.

I had a teacher named Mrs. Lock.

I actually have a funny last name too but because I have actually said what my first name is here, I can't even say what my last name is.

One of my teachers had a teacher with the last name 'Dyke'.
I had a teacher named 'Whigham' for my first year of school (not 'kindergarten'). I found that one interesting.
Also, I had neighbors with the last name Faass (pronounced 'fahss'), but they moved. They introduced themselves as, well, 'The Faass family. "Fatass", without the "t".' Shocked

Cumberbatch. As in Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes in the recent BBC adaptation. He also has a funny/stupid first name to boot.

There was a boy whose last name was Smallwood in my junior high and high schools. I might have sympathized for him about it if he hadn't been such a jerk.

i had a teacher who introduced himself as "mr bogone"
he wrote it on the blackboard

when i had to get his attention i called him "mr bog one".

he said his name was pronounced "bog-own-ee"
i said it was not spelled that way and that i would continue to address him as "bog one" because he is in an english speaking country now and he has to accept the way i read his name.

i lost.

Woodhead is a pretty funny last name.

I won't mention the other name, because that person is above me now. Being the Kinks Fan that I am, I don't want to make fun of Pete's last name.

Hehe, I had a grade school teacher (3rd I think) that had the last name "Gooderham"... that always made me laugh when I had to say her name Razz.

A guy my dad works along side's last name is Sexton... that one is funny when you add the first name, but I don't want to get that specific Neutral.

Some last names sound funny (or quite neutral) in one language but when translated, it's on the opposite. For example I already wrote in that thread on funny last names I gave the link to, that I have distant relatives whose last name is translated as Disagreement. In Polish their last name is quite common and there's nothing weird about it.

Or Jared Padalecki - his last name stems from "padalec" which means "blindworm".
