For some reason, I really enjoy speaking in the passive voice (grammatical usage).
For example, after cooking a meal, instead of saying, "Dinner is ready!", I'll say something like, "A meal has been prepared." I don't know why talking like this is so pleasing to me.
Anyone else do it? Know why?

I'd say the passive voice is used quite often by me.

I very often do the same as well. ( I do that too.)

I do too. I feel like the atmosphere is a lot calmer when speaking like this. I like it when things are calm and quiet.

It is sometimes preferable for me to speak in the passive voice, but I don't always care to.

This way of speaking used to me used by me and some of my school friends as a sort of in-joke referring to extremely artificial translations that were required to be done by us in Latin class.

This thread has been a joy for me to read. I am loving how it is unfolding and I was a bit concerned that it would not entertain me as much as other threads.

I also like using the passive voice. It sounds more civilized than the way that most people talk today.Image

It also seems to command more authority, people respond more readily.

The use of the passive voice keeps me detached from the situation.
