Last night my cat was getting under my feet and I yelled at him, then I saw that he had torn up his litter box and yelled at him some more (did not hit him, I wouldn't do that). He went under the bed and this morning he wouldn't even come out for breakfast, I had to pull him out and play with him for a while to get him to loosen up. He usually wakes me up in time for work and to feed him. And he's a really affable cat that doesn't play mind games!

Then today at work I had a ton of work with a looming deadline and I was yelling at people to get away and stop talking to me all day. I had to apologies to one of them I yelled so bad.

I hate these kinds of days. My plushy at work has been helping with the meltdowns, but today I just sort of fell apart. Oh yeah then our computer system went down and started yelling at my computer!

What a day! I don't like meltdown days, they feel like they might be taking days off my life or something. Yuck! And I don't like being mean!

I need some more meltdown avoidance tricks.

At least my cat is feeling better. And the woman at work is really nice and said she understood.

Meltdown days are the worst. :(

I'm not remotely proud of any of mine. I mean they're relatively mild compared to some meltdowns, but I don't like yelling at people and feeling angry all day, or the hangover afterward.

I really have to get a grip. I'm way too old to be doing this.

The fact that your cat and you took it so seriously shows how rare the outburst was. When I get like that the only thing that works is to reduce my stress. I realize sometimes that is not possible.

I get days where I yell a lot because I am frustrated, stressed out and have reached my tolerance level and gone past it in one way or another. People just think I am bad tempered and/or keep telling me to get therapy. Alternatively they give me funny looks like in the supermarket the other day when I was rushing to make my bus and the self service till wouldn't work properly. I got upset with it. Or the time I got lost and couldn't find the place where I was supposed to go for therapy, I got upset then too (cue ranting to myself and almost bursting into tears). Or the time I slammed my basket down, exclaimed 'oh for gods sake' and walked out of the supermarket because it was too noisy, there were too many people and they had moved the shelving around again and I couldn't find what I was looking for.

People look at me like I just stepped off the funny bus (and I don't mean funny as in humour), either that or they seem to think I might hit them. I don't hit things, I just get ranty, yell, cry and storm off. On really bad days I hit my head but fortunately the really bad ones don't happen too often, especially if i keep my environment as I need it.

You would only be a meanie if you didn't care and weren't responsible about your behavior.

Just curious, what happens if you see someone in a public place acting irrationally? Having a rage attack or angry outburst or overblown reaction to something seemingly trivial? I admit that I have had very little insight into my own irrational behavior yet have been judgmental toward others. In retrospect I should have been kinder in my thoughts but had not realized my own shortcomings. I now do take an extra moment to stop and think. Just wonder how others react/have reacted to other people acting out in public?
