What is this monstrosity to be used for? It looks like a giant aluminum rocket ball predating even Star Trek.

Looks like the LEM with bumps. Maybe it is a lander.

I was studying it after I posted this. I guess it is a small landing vessel weighing just over 2 tons with a payload capacity of about one ton, planned to be used as a landing vessel for scientific data mining on Mars and other small planets but also looking to use it and an asteroid killer, capable of landing on dangerous asteroids and placing explosive charges meant to redirect the asteroid from impacting earth.
