Somewhere in the depths of the parent forum, there was a post about a research study on children and young people on the spectrum that correlated violence with rigidity and that showed that violence tended to resolve on its own at about age 12.

My google-fu is usually strong, but I don't have enough keywords specific to the post to bring it up. Anybody remember it?

I have some of my best luck searching sites by using www.google.com instead of the custom search feature.

Just search with a number of words that should appear on a page of the thread, including your own username if you posted on it and include the search term site:wrongplanet.net

For example, try https://www.google.com/#q=violence+rigidity+site:wrongplanet.net.

If you need to find a specific post, a good approach is to go to your profile, then select 'all posts by momsparky' to list all your posts - I notice you principally post in the Parent's Discussion. Posts are listed in date order. If you happen to know the date, even the approximate date, you can navigate quicker. Happy hunting, and I'm sure you'll find it pretty quickly.

Like I said, I've got pretty good google-fu and have already tried both of those tricks (I could go through all 3K of my past posts, but it seems easier to ask for help - plus I'm not sure I posted on the thread itself.)

If someone who remembers the post I'm talking about can help me find more specific/pertinent keywords, that would help.

Can you give us any idea of the time period?

I doubt that this is it, but here is one that posted in and that matches the keywords in question and the time period: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt187613.html

Good job....like 'finding a needle in a haystack', yes? Sorry I wasn't any help though

I was thinking: Your total # posts since your start date - - mathematically find post given it was 2 years ago. But you found it among the dark archival annals of the Wrong Planet.

LOL, yes, but thank you again for your help. It's all about narrowing down the variables, right?

Actually, while we're here talking search mechanics: how do I go through pages of my own posts without having to click through every one? You know, it says pages 1, 2, 3, 4.....202, 203 - and in order to get from 4 to 100, I've had to click 5 then 6, etc.

It didn't want to let me put a random number in, when I typed 100 in the little box, it just sent me back to the first page...I didn't see a way to jump to a date, where is that?

Indeed. Given your start date, currently at 3,165 total posts, you would have 2.260714 posts per day. So, to find a post from 2 years ago, you would need to go back 1,649.8 posts ago. Yes, I noticed that the 'back in time' button is not working - - I am blaming the Wrong Planet for this technical glitch! I wonder if the backwards button works, but that's still a lot of clicks.

Isn't it handy to have Aspie member-friends? 8) Math thinkers rule. By coincidence, I'm just now watching a movie on tv about the Illuminati. I think the Wrong Planet really is the Illuminati....... 8O

It IS handy, indeed - one of the many reasons I value this forum so much!
