I've noticed several posts on this forum about people hating heat / hating to be hot. Now, since my age is posted, I must clarify that my aversion to heat / being hot has nothing to do with my age, as I've already been through "the change". I've hated being hot ever since I was a little kid, when I would sleep with at least one foot out from under the covers----and still DO. Another interesting thing, too, is.... I have VERY low blood pressure, so it's not that making me hot.

Anyone else?

Is it, maybe, that being hot slows, or muddles, our minds / our thinking?

I bet it is. I prefer it to be like 50 degrees outside, and overcast. Being hot always irritates me and makes it hard to focus, I'd definitely rather be cold; I can always put on more layers if needed.

I also hate the sun, it is just way too bright. I've noticed that I'm actually a little more calm if it's overcast, even if I'm indoors.

I always have seemed to generate a lot of heat, so I just melt and sweat in hot and humid conditions. It always annoyed me as I get a lot of stick from people who seem to take offense to the fact I wear t-shirts in winter, but right now it's gone midnight, I'm just sitting in my room and I'm sweating slightly so there is definitely something up with my body. What is also annoying is the effect seems to be getting worse as I get older.

I think I should also add that it's not just weight either (as people do like to query that), but as an adult my weight range has been from under 13.5 stones to over 17.5 stones (i'm 6'2" so that's from normal to obese) and I have never been able to tell any difference in how hot I feel.

Moved 1200 miles north to escape the heat.

mama nature is out go get us southern californians, i swear. besides the drought there's the ecxessive heat for this time of year, and the brutal sun. (although there was some nice fog this morning)

it makes me exceedingly bitter. today was a bit cooler, and it was nice. i prefer it to be around 50F and overcest like L Holmes said, i've always preferred winter wear to skimpy summer wear.

I hate heat too, especially if it is very humid. But isn't that more of a general human thing?

I hate heat too, but probably common to hate heat, not ASD thing.
I think I am evolutionarily adapted to cold, and I retain heat, and I easily overheat, as I don't sweat as easily as others.

It may or may not. Some people's sensitivity to heat may be due to autistic sensitivity but others' could be due to something else.

I know a guy who hates warm environments. He has the air-conditioners on to the point where others feel too cold. He is a kind of person whom you might call a "super-NT". So obviously non-autistic people could also hate heat. Of course that doesn't mean some autistic people's dislike of heat is not due to autistic traits.

I have heard about a condition (something to do with the thyroid gland) that makes you feel hotter than other people. I also heard that fat/obese people tend to feel hot very easily.

So I think an autistic person's dislike of heat could be due to various factors, one of which probably is autistic sensitivity to heat.

I also hate the heat, especially when combined with humidity. For me, it has to do with my dislike of touch. Heat and humidity cause sensory overload in that area. It also makes my clothes stick to me funny when I am trying to get dressed in the morning, especially right out of the shower. I hate it.

I know some NT people who hate the cold.

I don't think that it necessarily runs along those lines though. I'm sure there are plenty of AS people hate the cold and NT people who hate the heat.

I am hypothyroid and most people with this issue get cold easily. Not me. I run the air conditioner in the dead of winter. I hate being too hot. It triggers headaches, depression, and Autistic inertia in me.

I hate hot/warm weather. It feels oppressive and makes me feel run down. We finally moved from the Las Vegas desert to the Seattle area. Unfortunately it's been an "amazingly good summer" here. Yesterday was very cool and overcast, but tomorrow is supposed to be hot and sunny again....which really angers me. I wish is was overcast and cool/cold all year long. I love being bundled in winter clothes and sleeping with blakets. I hate having to wear just a tshirt and shorts and sleep with a sheet. Die summer DIE already!! !!

Ironically I love hot showers.

I can't stand really hot days. The main reason for me is that it causes me to sweat a lot. Perhaps it is more of an issue with humidity. I can remember going to Walt Disney World a few years back in the summer, and it was sweat, sweat, sweat, and miserable, miserable, miserable.

I also hate heat. I live in the arizona desert, and summers here ALWAYS make me miserable. I have this hatred towards sweat as well and always have to retreat to a place where it's really cool. I love being able to wear my hoodies too. In order for me to sleep, my room has to be cold. I actually sleep with an air conditioner thing in my room and a high turbulence fan as well.

Unsure is heat sensitivity is an AS trait, but I've noticed quite a many threads complaining about temperature extremes.

I hate being hot. Just feel like I might die on those oppressively hot days. Weirdly, like EzraS wrote, I love hot showers and blankets too - I guess it's the ambient heat that hard for me. And I love being by a cosy fireplace!

Hot weather seems to make me anxious, even irritable. Blissfully raining on this chilly night, and I love it.

I dislike being really warm / hot, always have. I prefer the fall and winter (even spring sometimes) over the summer immensely. I have a hard time cooling down sometimes after heating up really bad
