Are you guys familiar with the blood type diet by Dr Peter J D'Adamo :

So I had severe anxiety disorder , no need to tell you how bad it was that's unlikely to be interesting to you, except to say I had almost every bad symptom of the condition and I should have been locked up in the nut house , scary stuff I also take Paxil (Aropax in Australia) And beta blockers you may want to combine these medications with the diet if you get little to no response as I believe it works in symbiosis .Thank god I have had a good improvement , though will have to make do with what I have, is it even possible to fully recover from severe anxiety /panic disorder ?

I will ask my gp if I can take :

Tryptophan , ( 5 htp ) some say you need to be careful or not take it at at all with anti depressants , I will ask my gp, perhaps only take it at 1/3 to 1/2 the recommended dose to avoid serotonin syndrome,, apparently that can be deadly !

Cortisol Blocker , worth a try or perhaps beta blockers is already doing enough to help with this problem

The diet has a extremely beneficial , neutral and avoid list I will highlight the ones that have been the most stand out for me.

HIGHLY BENEFICIAL

Broccoli , pineapple , prunes , sweet potatoes , dried figs

AVOID

Potatoes , corn , bread , coffee , soft drinks , pickled foods

Their are of cause many more on this list for o blood , also the author says to limit gluten , personally for me it's best that it's fully eliminated .

On a final note the author recommends o blood type eats lots of corpses that ain't going to happen as a vegan, so yes you can benefit if your not in to that sort of thing , also you may want to consider cutting out salt , it stimulates adrenalin .

Do stick at it for at least a month , don't try to sneak in a little bit of the banned foods , you will regret it .

it is not wise to totally eliminate salt [a key electrolyte] unless one is speaking only of table salt as a condiment, as opposed to the salts that come with foods. also in hot weather more salt than normal is necessary to compensate for sweating especially upon exertion. I know about the salt from blacking out on hot-weather exertion until the docs told me I needed more salt when I was sweating it out. the non-refined carbs elimination is excellent, when I gave up the SAD [Standard American Diet which is rich in refined carbs] i felt better and thought better. can you tell me what drug blocks cortisol?

^^^

Sorry it's a "natural " supplement and like the diet above some claim it's not "science based "
All I can say to that I did not imagine my improvements .
When you are in a bad way you try anything .....

sorry but I was not dismissing what you said. I was not saying you imagined anything. I was just expressing my alarm about the elimination of salt. I was in a bad way also and that forced me to do something I shoulda done 20+ years ago, and give up normal tasty food. :hmph: I hope your way continues to benefit you. 8)

Oh it wasn't directed at you , it was directed at the close minded no it all Doctors , some come out and say it's a load of rubbish , how many people will miss out on the potential benefits due to these so called opinions .?

Anyways I've accepted finally that I will allways have a overactive nervous system ,
I just want it to improve as far as possible .

have you thought about the nutritional supplement GABA?* there are a few threads here talking up its strong points.

*[NOT talking about gabapentin/Neurontin]

I use to have "free floating anxiety" which the beta blocker [in my case atenolol] got rid of, and the visible proof of that was the elimination of an intentional tremor I used to have in my hands, which I no longer have. I used to not be able to hold my hands steady, they would quiver especially when handling an object.

be careful of the dose when under exertion, I found I had to back off by half when I'd start to black out when doing hard work especially out in the sun.
