TUUSULA, Finland - An 18-year-old gunman who killed seven other students and the principal before mortally wounding himself in a rampage was a social outcast who was "bullied in school," a senior police official said Thursday.

"He withdrew into his shell. I had noticed a change in him just recently, and I thought that perhaps he was a bit depressed, or something, but I couldn't imagine that in reality he would do anything like this," Hulkkonen told Finnish TV broadcaster MTV3.

http://www.kimmo.org/jokela/ if you want his pictures/videos/texts. Seems he was mostly inspired by Nietschze and embraced both far left and far right politics. I find him a weak copycat in that he imitated the earlier school shooters yet couldn't add anything new to the genre - I mean, go inside a school alone with a nonautomatic handgun and expect to stage a great massacre?

Sadly people do this because they think the only way they can escape pain is to destroy what is causing them pain :(

I live in Finland, and not too far away from Jokela high school where shooting occurred. I knew one who died. It was a total shock for the whole nation, because nobody had ever even thought that things like this could be possible in Finland.
Especially today's been quite a mess, because n+244 rumours are spreading through the internet that similiar threaths than killer put on youtube about has been sighted in youtube considering other schools (including MY school) and public places.
Whole nation is still in some kind of "state of mild chaos", not least because some of students haven't shown up in schools since wendesday, because they are too frightened about threath that doesn't even exist anymore. According to what is known about the killer, he was dissapointed in everything in his life, and build a new ethics and morals for himself from social darwinism and extreme politics.
