Hi,

The last months I have been busy reading articles and sorting trough websites about autism, AS and other 'disorders'. And I finally decided for myself that I should accept that I have an autism-related disorder, probably AS.

Why? I had some problems on my job and in my activities outside of work. I ran in to some problems interacting with people. Well, it is not a thing of the last time, but now it became annoying. In the past I blamed it on growing up, my problems with my motor skills, puberty, whatever. But now I am 27, that should be over...

I took my earlier papers and looked again on an old medical diagnosis. It said: pervasive developmental disorders and some interesting symptoms: taking sayings literally, using difficult words, problems with the fine motor skills

The I added some problems from the last years: finding it difficult to behave with strange people, problems with looking a person in the eyes, hating teamsports, difficulty getting my thoughts across to an other person, difficulty with parties, difficulty with finding a relation.

That brought myself to the conclusion that I probably have something like AS.

Well hopefully I learn something about myself and AS on the Wrong Planet.

Just a note, English is my third language, therefore I am not typing it fluently.

Hello, welcome to WP!

You speak English well enough by the looks of things. Oh and if you want to stay away from strange people, you're in the COMPLETELY WRONG place! (although we're al weird in a good way).

@Brittany2907: Thank you for your URL, it looks interesting, I will spend some time reading the website.

@KBABZ: Strange people, are people like I have not met before. And weird, o well, I recognize more 'feelings' at his forum than on a most forums.

@All: Thank you, it makes me feel welcome.

Hey, Asterisp! Welcome to WP. What are your first and second languages? I'm a language geek, so I just have to know...

Anyway, your English is pretty good. One thing:

"Another" is just one word. Otherwise, you've done pretty well as far as I can see.

I hope you find what you're looking for here. Talking to other people like myself, and realizing I'm not the only one, has really helped me a lot. Everything makes more sense when someone else does it too!

Welcome Asterisp,

You might also find some useful info on my blog (see my signature) - it's about the condition rather than being a collection of ramblings. (I have a completely different blog for ramblings) :)

Putting the spaces at the right places is difficult, especially in Dutch. But to answer your question.

My first language is Frisian, a regional language. My second language is Dutch.

Then comes English (writing and speaking), German (writing and speaking), French (reading a bit and using simple sentences).

Hopefully this forum gives me some answers. At least I can post here things, without looking like a strange or 'crazy' person. And a lot of the problems I read so far on this forums I recognize, that's comforting in some way.
