Use what you know to toss aside everything that is irrelevant. Once you bring religion/spirituality down to its bare, unstructured role, ask yourself if that is what you want to believe. If you cannot, then what can make you believe?

The problem here is how to judge what is relevant and what is not.

Most people (myself included) begin with what they want to believe. Some will consider anything that supports that belief to be relevant and toss aside anything that does not; people who are interested in truth evaluate it differently, in ways that are difficult to define.

Necromancy, but true necromancy. People usually based things due to their desire to see them as true, after all, why not? That is arguably the *most* rational thing for people to do.

A good place to start is to question all ones beliefs. Society, parents, teachers and peers deluge people in belief systems from the moment they are born. Beliefs are so deeply planted people seldom question them, or fear questioning them because if those beliefs are incorrect then their entire philosophy of life could collapse around them. For most people mental stability and knowing their place in society is more important than finding "truth".

Well, why would a person seek truth at the cost of their mental stability? Honestly, I think that most people, if they were honest, would admit that their beliefs extend even further than what is logically credible.

do you really expect a poll from ragtime to give options other than his point?

ragtime makes it easy: the correct answer then everything else.

Geez, bro. Where the hell have you been for the past 2 months??

I voted: yes.

Sometimes I don't want to know certain things at all (truth or no truth), but that's a different story.
