Have you ever KNOWN that something wasn't a very bright idea but went with it anyhow? I'v had plenty, but here's today's.

Today I plan on riding my bicycle.
Through prime bear country.

Alone.
(Rule #1 NEVER be alone in bear country, don't know anyone to go with me, prefer to go alone on bike rides or with my daughter)

With no firearm, not even "Bear Spray"
(Rule #2 always carry a firearm in the back country, it may just save your life. I have an autistic daughter, there will be no firearms in my possession, may stop and get bear spray before I go, It would only be prudent)

Thought about packing a snack but figure why push it.
(Rule #3 Don't smell like food This is really rule #2 and #1 also. I'm already breaking 2 "Bear Rules" as it is.)

We recently had a bear mauling on one of my favorite trails, so today I'm gonna ride the scenic "Bird to Gird" trail and back. (Girdwood) along the Turnagain Arm. On the bear map only Bear 208 is near the trail but there's lots more of them out there than what are tagged. And it's in the Chugach mountains along the coast. Here's our "tagged bear map"

I'm curious as to what "Bad ideas that you went ahead with anyway" everyone else may have had.

1) Went on a Mercy Date with girl who had more issues than National Geographic.
2) Went on any Blind Date.
3) Volunteered to ride shotgun on a military mail convoy through beautiful downtown Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993.
4) Hung by my hands from the bottom of a trestle, 70 feet above a river, while a freight train went by overhead.
5) Lied to the cops in a vain attempt to protect my brother (he was arrested anyway).
6) Tried to spend the night inside the Vatican, just to see if I could get away with it (Nope... :( ).
7) Accepted an open drink from my Navy "buddies" while on liberty call in Mombasa, Kenya.

... and many, many more!

Expressing my romantic interest in two of my friends, who didn't feel the same

Downloading songs off of Limewire (which I don't do anymore, by the way)

Hitting my sister

Giving out my phone number to some guy I met on the Internet

Not wearing mosquito repellent while going outside

Skipping showers

Buying things on impulse

I have done that before... to coworkers. Haven't been fired for it. I'm not interested in sex, not until marriage, so that was never an issue used against me. I just wanted to have a female friend.

It can get you in trouble though, especially if people want to get rid of you for illegal reasons - managers who hate you for religious or whatever reasons, they will look for or invent any charges possible to destroy your life.

I was fired from Wal-Mart, supposedly but falsely, for a "violent act". I have never been told what that act was, and the exit meetings were very confusing, but they fired and banned me - cutting me off from both my job at Wal-Mart and my job at McDonald's. I haven't been able to find a job since.

I hate it that if I ever say, "I've been fired" that people reflexively ask, "what did *you* do?"... especially if it comes to Wally World, people haven't got a clue what it is like there and what you, an employee, have to put up with there - especially after they ruin your life.

I am a party pooper, with my big bag of party poop, showering it over all the bad ideas.

People who write bad checks, aren't very bright. Your name is right on the check. How can you expect to get away with it?

Well, today I bought candy, and I knew I shouldn't. I also ate more candy than I've restricted myself too, and knew that I shouldn't. I'm a bad boy.

Things I've done in the past that I knew I shouldn't have done:

Eat mostly ice cream as my food for a year.

Shop lift that stupid cheap thing at Wal-Mart that I could have paid for.

Buy a mobile home.

Try to help someone that didn't want help.

Depend on an irresponsible person.

Let people use me I knew were using me.

I'd like any of the above!

Example of #1:

...so, I was dating a girl, we were at a mall.
I was talking to her, then I realized she spaced out! She was looking somewhere else, and didn't hear a single word I said. So I started to call her:
- Hey, are you ok?
and she said
- I'm fine. Sometimes I space out. People constantly tell me that. *laughs*
- ... :|

... My sister spaces out WHEN SHE IS DRIVING THE CAR. Having to be in the car while she was driving IS the main reason I was prescribed Lexapro.

Really I see nothing reprehensible in this trait, unless it is a value that everything one says must be heard... given the amount of stupid things I say when I've been infatuated: I rather she spaces out and not hears the idiotic speeches I unfortunately make.

Well, I didn't get fired, but I lost two of my best friends. One incident in particular inflicted such deep emotional wounds that it took about three years for me to get over it.

Sorry to hear that. That does stink, to lose friends.

I have quite a few but doing a Rock Solid on my motorbike when I didn't have quite the amount of
air that I needed was a pretty damn bad idea.

I shattered my wrist and broke it in 4 places.
And I also snapped my arm in the same stack.

1) Sticking my fingers in a light socket.

2) Trying to make any headway into dating.

I'm not sure which is more futile and pain-inducing...
