Eww! Gross! That has got to be one of the most digusting things about NT's. My mom always asks me if I want crackers in my soup or chilli and I always refuse. It's so gross. It's hard enough to eat the soup or chilli itself so it's not like I need something to choke on.

Crackers in chili can be weird but I have done it before. Crackers in soup's even more strange. I can handle crackers in chili but usually don't put them in. It's like meat loaf that way.

I don't know why anyone would want to put crackers in chilli. Then again, I've never tried it so can't be one to judge.

you guys (americans) must have a very defined idea of what "chili" is, cus i think of the plant.

you cant fit a cracker inside the chili, unless its a very small cracker, or a very big chili.

in a turkish little shop, they had small fat chilis, stuffed with feta cheese. your supposed to munch it up in one bite
its
its
its
...heaven...

its just... your teeth cut through the burning chili, you want to die, but then they meet the feta cheese, and theres a party of hot and fresh in your mouth, and all you wanna do is dive inside your mouth, and rub the juices all over your body

Smile

Chili (con carne) is a kind of stew, the main ingredients being:(ground) meat, chili peppers, tomatoes and usually kidney beans.
Here's a wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chili_con_carne

I usually eat it with rice, never liked it with tortilla chips or crackers.
I do like crackers in soup though, like those saltine type of crackers but without salt (and wholemeal).

oh yeah, my dad (peruvian) made a lot of chili con carne when i was little. i gotta push him into inviting me for some, again, i love it. he uses beans and rice, i never heard of crackers used.
you know what. im gonna text him about it! i want chili con carne now!!!

its not very common here tho, so i think the plant, unless "con carne" is added Very Happy of course, i begun assuming that you were all talking about some dish Very Happy

I believe the idea of putting deep fried strips of tortia in soup comes from soupa de lima, which is a lime and chicken broth.

Not that Mexican is my favourite. Tex-mex quite different from Mexican.
