I could use some suggestions, I have some ideas on what to do, but I'm just not too good at it so far. Don't know major, and I don't know whether I should continue college(been reading some discussions on the work forum about schools lying). Anything would help.

What are your intellectual interests?

A lot of stuff, can't actually name stuff off the top of my head without feeling embarrassed, but I will, dinosaurs and ancient life, synthesizing a blueprint of the universe, creating new stuff, questioning, stuff. That's all i could think of.

It's best to pick something that you're interested in and can use to land a job after graduating. I was interested in philosophy but a BA in philosophy is useless to employers. Economics isn't much better but the liberal arts college I went to didn't have any "useful" majors. I'd pick engineering, computer science, accounting, or something like biochemistry if you're pre-med. Just make sure you're both interested in and have the aptitude for these fields or college is going to be hell.

Same here; I don't know what major I'd like to go into. I've been told go in as undecided but there's no colleges that have all my interests in one school. I just know I need to do something visual; that usually uses visual skills.

Most students take a while to figure out what they want to do. I'd suggest starting as a liberal arts major. (You can always change it later.) This way, you can take a variety of courses that sound interesting. They may not encompass all of your interests, but you'll probably find at least a handful of courses that you really enjoy. If you enjoy a class, take another one in that field. If you like that one too, then perhaps you've found yourself a major.

K tt was a bit mean, but I couldn't help being reminded of it.

However, if you're the type of person whose interest is easily piqued, chances are you can do any major and be interested in it. So might as well do something that you know will be useful.

If you are interested in technical fields and excel at math/science, then I say go to college.

Otherwise, skip it.

Definitely pick a major that will likely yield a job after school (i.e. engineering, comp sci, math, etc). Although I spent my time studying my Aspie obsession, meteorology, it has not resulted in a job. The weather business is mostly government focused, and with austerity measures, there are very few openings out there, making things ultra competitive. Despite having a BS and MS degree in meteorology, it has left me feeling like a totally worthless failure and in an endless limbo.

Am I saying do something you hate for the sake of a job? No, but be sure to pick something that combines your interests and strengths with good career prospects. For some, this may require a bit of compromise. Get online and research fields that are hiring. In the US, the Occupational Outlook Handbook (www.bls.gov/oco) is a good information source. The career office at your school can provide pointers too.
