Supposedly the whole point of this filter is to stop child porn. It is going to slow our internet by up to 25%. From what I can see the word teen equates to kiddie porn? There is even a site dedicated to Granny sex.
This list confirms my argument that this censorship has nothing to do with child protection, those perverts who like that kind of stuff will continue in their secret P2P sites which of course do not get a mention in this list.
The worst thing whilst this list is to be kept secret, it takes only one person to ban a site. This really is the thin edge of the wedge. As Orwell said this list is mainly porn so it is going to be difficult to mount a challenge, although the government has been banging on about only restricting access to child porn which the vast majority on this list is not, unless grannies with dementia count.
Apparently wikileaks is now on the list, which if true means the use of the filter has already broken away from porn into the wider area of dissent.
Just in time to counteract any stirring of civil unrest due to any austerity measures the government may bring in during the depression that we are most likely facing.
Yes I know lots of maybes and possibles, but I would be surprised if the government was not thinking this way. We already have anti-sedition laws passed a couple of ears ago. This filter is the perfect adjunct to that law _________________ "I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance anyday"

| This is a highly prejudicial remark and a personal opinion but there is something about Australia that reminds me of Texas. |

I don't quite know what that means, I suspect you are suggesting that Australia is very conservative and you would be correct. It is also quite racist, although we are a fairly peaceful place so this is a little inconspicuous. The general population is very apathetic when it comes to politics and also allows itself to be spoon fed by the mass media, the only reason people will get upset about this filter is if the internet slows down.
All in All its a really bad country for a Revolutionary Marxist who is trying to raise the political conciousness of the proletariat _________________ "I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance anyday"

| And yep, it is also not so good for liberals who really want to do good for the country in a slightly unconventional manner... not too good for the Oz. |
